His skin was ash-gray and his black horns contrasted well with his white hair. He wore the same clothes as every desk jockey demon did, a gray armored uniform. He was shorter than any other demon in Hell, only two inches taller than me.
Priamos was the only other demon Aziel got along with, and Priamos looked up to him the most a demon could look up to someone.
“Mother, I am overwhelmed with joy to hear the rumors are true!” Black tears that reeked of sulfur rolled down his cheeks from his red eyes.
I smiled, reaching out a hand toward him. He took and kissed it before getting to his feet. “You’re looking good, Priamos. Have you been working for King Zelek?”
Aziel’s sharp teeth grazed my shoulder, and a chill zipped through me as I gasped.
“Yes, Mother.”
“Well, I’m home now, so from here on out, you’ll be working with me.”
He grinned as he pulled out a notepad. “Absolutely, Mother. What can I do for you?”
“I need a mini-fridge filled with blood bags. Add in some extra B-positive,” I said, watching his pen move as he jotted down the list. “I also need a room that’s near mine for the Draven clan. Make sure there are three queen beds.”
He nodded, and with a wave of my hand, he disappeared in black flames.
“You’ll each have a bed in case you decide you want your space like Thaddeus, but you have an open-ended invitation to my bed,” I said, wiggling back against Aziel, who groaned in response.
“It’s kind of hot watching you order people around.” Blaise trailed a finger down my arm.
I bit my lip. “It’s kind of hot when you touch me.”
“Poppy, I love doing more than touching you.”
Then fucking do it.
Blaise ran his tongue over his bottom lip with a groan.
“I have a question, love.” Thaddeus walked over and sat down close to me in the bed.
I shifted up, untangling myself from Aziel to give him my full attention. “What question?”
“What did you mean by Gabriel killing you?”
Aziel growled, grabbing me again and yanking me into his chest, wrapping his arms around my front. The thunderous beat of his heart was powerful against my back.
I wrapped my hands around his arms and gave a squeeze before he loosened his hold. “That son of a bitch Gabriel pierced me through the heart with an archangel sword that turned me to dust.”
Sulfur scented the air in a high concentration as Aziel’s hot, black tears dropped on to my shoulder.
“Gabriel, as in one of our bosses?” Kai asked, fisting his hands in his hair. “The one we bloody took you in front of?”
I snorted, malice hissing through me. “The Order of the Void isn’t your boss anymore.”
Aziel sniffed, his voice cracking as he spoke. “That’s him. Sick bastard played with her before he killed her, and it took at least ten archangels to hold me down to watch.”
My gaze dropped, and I gritted my teeth. Gabriel couldn’t handle being told no.Typical arrogant angel.
“Played with her how?”
Each of their eyes darkened, and the air crackled with anger.
“I don’t think you want to know,” Aziel said in a low, deadly voice.
“But how did he kill her? I thought demons were immortal?” Kai asked.
