Titan's gaze raked my body. "Damn right."
Aziel blasted hellfire Titan's way, and Titan got hit in the face, stumbling back a bit. "Seriously, Titan?"
"What?" Titan rubbed his cheek where the blue flames still danced and put it out. "I'm still a man, and fucking hell if Lilith looks—"
"Don't bloody finish that sentence," Blaise interrupted with a low growl. His arms were crossed and his biceps were bulging from it.
Ugh. Jealousy looks good on them.
Blaise's gaze snapped to mine as he smirked. "Let's go."
I held out my arms as we all clasped hands in a line.
Just as I went to teleport, Thaddeus interrupted. "Titan, can you teleport us?"
"Why?" I snapped.
"Because teleporting overworks your body."
Anger coiled in my belly, but I pursed my lips. It pissed me off, but he was right. This fucking body had issues handling my demon powers.
"Of course, I'll handle it." Titan winked, and the black flames covered our bodies, not burning the skin like when I did it.
Teleporting wasn't supposed to be painful, but I guess it was a defect of my hybrid body that made it painful for me. I was thankful for our accelerated healing, otherwise, I’d never be able to teleport.
The flames faded and our surroundings materialized. We were in the heart of New York City, and the scent of pollution in the air was rank. It made my nostrils burn, and my eyes water just from being in the city.
We were in an alleyway in between two tall buildings, just by the entrance. Stacks of water-stained crates lined the walls. There was an older man with a shopping cart asleep on a sleeping bag, his snores fading into the alley.
I stepped forward and cringed as the suction of sticky grime pulled at the bottom of my boots. “Gross. These are cute boots too.”
“I don’t even want to know what’s on the ground.” Kai shivered as we all made our way out of the alley and onto the sidewalk littered with pedestrians.
"I can guess." Titan curled his lip in a sneer.
Locals didn't even question Titan and Aziel's horns or my outfit. I was betting it was because it was New York. Weird shit was always happening in the city, and New York was one of the biggest cities I knew of.
"Why'd you teleport us into the city? The warehouse is on the outskirts, isn't it?" I asked Titan as we wove our way through people.
"Yes, but Mortala told me to meet him at a certain location in the city so we could do it without being found out.”
"Mortala didn't tell us that," Thaddeus grumbled as we stopped in front of a bakery.
"He contacted King Zelek who told me before I came to your room."
The door opened with a ding of a bell, and the scent of chocolate and yeast dough wafted toward us. Mortala came out of the bakery with a small bag of baked goods.
"Really?" I raised a brow.
"King Zelek enjoys human desserts. I'm just being a dutiful servant." He bowed his head slightly, cheeks turning red.
Such a kiss ass.
Blaise snorted.
I waved my hand back and forth. "Don't worry about that. What's going on?"
His face turned grave, and his grip on the goodies tightened, crinkling the paper bag. "Viktor's in the warehouse. He leaves tonight...and be careful. He’s developing more powers the more new-bloods he drains. He’s out of control.”
