“Harmoni! You playing a dangerous game. I’m really about to leave you stiff and stankin’ in this bitch! If you were anybody else, you would already be dead. I’m being nice and trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but if you gon’ continue to play in my face, I’m about to show you who the fuck I really am! Look me in my eyes and tell me that you and that nigga didn’t plot totake me out! Tell me you don’t know nothing at all about what I have going on in these streets!” I barked.

“I promise you, I didn’t even know you knew that nigga. I don’t have any dealings with him. He doesn’t even have my number. He is my ex, and Diamond is the girl who jumped and robbed me. She’s obsessed with me and stalks me. How are you even in contact with her?”

“I’m asking the fucking questions! Prove to me that you don’t deal with that nigga. I got the number! Dial it and talk regular or see what the fuck happens to you!” I spoke through clenched teeth.

I took out my burner phone and called off the number to Harmoni. When she dialed it, no contact came up, which meant she didn’t have his number saved into her phone. Still, that didn’t prove shit to me. The phone was on speaker when Jakari answered.

“Yeah?” he answered.

“Hey, this is Harmoni.” She spoke in a calm tone.

“What’s up, Moni? Is everything straight? I thought you hated me and never wanted to hear my bitch ass voice again. I’m glad you called, but look, I got some real shit going on, and I’m trying to make something shake in a little bit of time. Can I call you later? A nigga really in a fucked up spot. Like some life or death type shit that I’m handling.”

Harmoni looked at me with her brows raised, and she let curiosity get the best of her.

“Please don’t call this phone back. You can talk to me now while we’re already speaking. What’s going on, Jakari? Although we are not together and will never be together again, I still don’t wanna see nothing bad happen to you, and you sound really fucked up right now.”

“Man, Moni, it’s some street shit that just went too far. Like I’ve always said, I would never put you in my business againwhen it comes to that shit. Just know you were right about everything, and I should have been went legit a long time ago. I know you don’t wanna hear about it, and I’ve hurt you real bad with this, but my son’s life is on the line. All the shit I’ve done is catching up with me, so if we never talk again, just know that I love you and always will. Take care, Harmoni, and I’m sorry for everything I've ever done to cause you pain. You and my son were the only good things I got outta life,” Jakari said before I snatched the phone and ended the call.

I blocked his number and then deleted it from her call log.

“What did you do, Rowdy, and why? What does he mean his son’s life is on the line? You see that I don’t talk to him at all. I have been nothing but honest and faithful to you. The only thing I hid was the baby. I found out I was pregnant after those girls jumped me, and I had to go to the hospital. Remember that time you went missing? I told you from jump that I was just getting out of a relationship, so the first time you made love to me was almost a week after I slept with him for the last time. We weren’t officially together when I fucked him last,” Harmoni looked into my eyes and spoke.

“You still pushing this baby shit? I still can’t trust or believe you. You mean to tell me this nigga that’s been killing my people, taking my work, and at war with me is the same nigga you dated for five years, but you had no clue of who I was and that this wasn’t a setup?” I asked in a harsh tone.

“I don’t have to lie. I don’t get involved in street bullshit, and as far as my pregnancy, all my papers and ultrasounds are put up in my office. You really came here to kill me, though? I thought you were a businessman, not some street-ass hood nigga. No matter how outlandish it may sound, I didn’t know shit about you and Jakari, and now I wish I had never met either one of you fuck niggas! Get your gun and get the fuck out of my house,”Harmoni spat as she looked at me with disgust and rage in her eyes.

Harmoni was no longer afraid; now, she was pissed off. She turned the stove off and stormed to the back of the house. In a matter of seconds, she came back with papers from the doctor and ultrasounds. She was indeed pregnant. That explained why she had been getting thicker, the mood swings, and her never having a period. I had been so caught up and consumed with revenge that I couldn’t fully pay attention to my girl. My head was all fucked up, and I didn’t know what was true or not. What I did know was that I believed her about her ex. I now knew she didn’t plot to have me killed, and she was really pregnant. I couldn’t even get excited, though, because the baby might belong to a nigga that I may have to kill.

“You taking too long to move the fuck around. You wanna flash guns and threaten me? By the time I make it to the closet and come back in here, if you not gone, I’m going to give you what you came here for. So, I guess you think it makes you a real nigga to pull a gun on me. The woman you say you love. Everything makes sense now. Diamond told you that I was messing with Jakari. You also had tickets to the movies for two adults and a kid but lied about it. You got your revenge by fucking my stalker. Bitch, if you don’t leave my shit right now!” Harmoni yelled as she stormed to the bedroom.

I heard her pushing buttons on the safe before I had a chance to explain. I grabbed my keys and headed out. The look in her eyes saidfuck around and find out,but I wasn’t ready to die. Not today. I jumped in my whip and got the fuck out of dodge. Today had been a fucked up day, and I had more questions than I did answers, but I knew Diamond’s bitch ass would have to tell me something that made sense if she wanted to keep breathing.

On the drive back to the cabin, I had a lot of time to think and process all the shit I was just told. It was a wild ass coincidencethat the woman I had fallen in love with was also the ex of my opp. What was even crazier was that she was pregnant, and it could belong to this bitch ass nigga. I had too much on my plate, and I was ready to flash out. I now knew that Harmoni hadn’t set me up, but that didn’t make shit easier to accept. I really didn’t know where I would go from here, but now I knew it was time to make muthafukas pay.

Once I arrived at the cabin, I rushed inside with a vengeance. I needed answers, and I knew just who was about to give them to me. I walked past the playroom first, and JJ was taking a nap in his beanbag chair that I had bought for him. I closed the room door and headed to the back of the place. When I walked into the bedroom, Diamond was in the same place, but now her mouth was duct taped again.

“Man, don’t leave me with this hoe again, or you gon’ be mad at me. I almost popped this hoe’s top like a can of Pringles. She talks too damn much. Her sister already told me she keeps getting her ass beat by the same bitch, so she damn sure don’t want me to call one of my hoes over here to get on her ass,” Trell barked.

“Nigga, chill. Don’t none of yo’ hoes ever need to know about our business. Why didn’t you just beat her ass? You had already knocked the bitch out. Don’t act like you too good to beat a hoe up now,” I stated in all honesty.

“Had I killed her before you came back, you would be all over my ass about it. I know you trying to get this money out of her lame-ass baby daddy first and ask more questions. I tried to be chill, but if you don’t hurry up and clean this bitch up, I’m liable to smoke my damn self. This hoe is funky as hell, bro! I been nauseous, waiting for you to come back,” Trell spat.

I had forgotten to clean her up before rushing over to my crib. Trell wasn’t lying. She was funky as hell, and it had the whole place smelling like death. If she really thought she had achance in hell with me, she was crazy and out of her mind. How could you not be able to hold yourself for a day? A muthafukin’ day. She was too grown for that shit, and now I could never look at her the same.

“Man, help me get her to the shower,” I told Trell.

We stood her up and carried her to the shower. When we got Diamond into the bathroom, I grabbed some scissors from the medicine cabinet and cut her shirt down the middle. Trell held her up for me. Then I took the scissors and cut her pants off. When I got the pants completely off her, it was shit smeared all over her legs and ass. Shit mixed with piss was a deadly ass smell. There was no way I was gonna wash her ass. While Trell cursed her out for being a nasty bitch, I decided to make her clean herself.

“You about to wash your own ass, and if you think about trying anything funny, the last thing you gon’ remember is something hot in yo’ head,” I sternly spoke as I cut the rope off her.

I snatched the tape off her mouth, and then I gave her the towel and soap to clean herself. Trell went into the room to grab her clothes while I stood in the doorway, making sure she didn’t make any sudden moves. I wanted to feel bad for what I was doing, but I just couldn’t. From the jump, I had been set up, and I was about to make Diamond tell me everything, or she would be a memory.

When Diamond was done taking her shower, I handed her a trash bag and a pair of gloves to pick her shitty clothes up and throw them away. She looked at me with pure hate in her eyes, and I returned the stare. I dared her to try me.

Once we were back in the room, we taped Diamond up again and sat her in a clean chair. I pulled a chair directly in front of hers, sat down, and looked her in the eyes. Shit wasn’t addingup, and I needed answers. Whatever trust she had for me before was gone, but hell, she wasn’t to be trusted either.

“You may as well tell me everything. Your life depends on it. Did you plan to set me up with Jakari, or what? How did you end up knowing who I was and that I was dating Harmoni?” I asked.
