Chung-ae waved at the doorway of the bedroom we had arrived in. The hunters and extinguishers were all standing there, staring at us.

“Oh,” I said. “Hey. We're back.”

Before I could launch into an explanation, Hunter Chung-ae burst out with, “We went to Heaven!”

“What?” Alexis looked from him to me. “You took him to Heaven and not us? And who is that?” She waved her hand at the human.

“It was a sort of spur-of-the-moment thing,” Killian drawled.

“A last-minute trip,” Star added with a grin at Kill.

“Lee Dae-hyun tried to kill Star and Sever,” I said. “I took them to Heaven to heal them.”

“WithAnu's Scepter,” Sever said and took my hand. “I have yet to thank you for that.”

“I'm your wife.” I smirked at him. “That means never thanking me for saving your life.”

“I don't recall that vow.” He curved a wing around me and kissed my cheek.

“Um, what?” Alex growled.

“Lee Dae-hyun tried to kill those two, and the Ambassador took them to Heaven to heal them with Anu's Scepter,” Extinguisher Connor Teagen said. “Catch up.”

Alex grimaced at Connor.

“But why isthisguy here? And what's wrong with him?” Alexis demanded as she waved at the human.

“Are you a teensy weensy bit upset that you didn't get a vision about this or something?” Killian asked her.

Alexis crossed her arms.

Killian snorted then said, “This guy is the one who tried to kill Sever and Star. Seren star-crossed him, and we brought him with us for questioning.”

“Which we need to get to right away,” I said with a glance out the window at the dark sky.

It had already been early evening when we went to the night market. Now, it looked late. We'd need to leave soon or it would become early again.

“Good work, Ambassador,” Team Leader Teagan said. “He can give us a more precise idea of what we'll be heading into.”

“The thing is, if Lee Dae-hyun is smart, which we know he is, he'll assume something's up when his assassin fails to check in,” Killian said.

“Killian's right,” Star said. “He may already be on the move.”

“No,” Connor said confidently. “We have the house under surveillance. We'd know if he left. He's still there.”

“Then he'll have surprises waiting for us,” I said as I went to stand before the human. “What defenses does Lee Dae-hyun have in place?”

“A team of sixty men,” he immediately answered. “There are also metal fences throughout the house that can be electrified.”

“I think it's safe to assume that he's planning on adding Water magic to those . . . what's wrong with him?” Star scowled at the human, who was fidgeting oddly.

Killian snorted. “He's doing the pee-pee dance.”

“The what?” Star lifted his brows.

“The pee-pee dance!” Killian started moving from side to side. “You know. When you have to go badly but can't.”

“Damn it,” I muttered. “The bathroom is right there.” I pointed at it. “You may use it whenever you need to.”
