The human rushed into the bathroom, not even bothering to close the door. In a few seconds, the sound of a steady stream was heard.

“Shut the door next time,” I called after him.

“Wow,” Extinguisher Rory Kavanaugh said. “I've heard about fairy-striking, but I've never seen it in action.”

“Star-crossing,” Extinguisher Connor Teagan corrected before any of us could. “She can do that to fairies too.”

“As well as Angels and Demons,” I said. “I just dream dusted some Seraphim in Heaven.”

“Yeah, you did!” Killian high-fived me. “That was awesome, babe.”

“Thank you.”

“Seren,” Medea said.

“Yes?”

“I spoke to Ha-eun. She says the pearls reside just below the heart.”

“Damn, I completely forgot about that. Thank you.”

“Sure thing.”

Then the human returned.

I immediately got back to questioning him. “What else does Lee Dae-hyun have waiting for us?”

The man's blank expression folded into a frown. “I don't know.”

“Ambassador, ask him what escape routes there are,” Connor suggested.

I nodded and repeated the question.

“None that I know of,” the human said.

“Impossible,” Sever said. “He must have a way out.”

“He's probably counting on Air Magic to get him out of there if necessary,” I said. “And he wouldn't share that with his bodyguards.”

“Ah. Yes. You're right.”

“Is there anything else we need from this man?” Star asked.

I looked around the room at the hunters and extinguishers who had trickled in. They shook their heads. All but Alex, who came forward.

“I could take a look around,” Alex offered.

“In the mind of an assassin?” I asked. “Are you sure?”

“I'm sure that I've seen worse.” He grabbed the human's wrist.

With a blink, Alex's stare went distant. He twitched. We waited. At last, he dropped the human's wrist.

“Not as bad as I expected,” Alex said. “I caught a look at another property. If our target is gone, I know where he'll be.”

“Excellent, Alex!” Alexis cheered.

“Yes, good work,” I said.
