“That about sums it up.”

“Okay, so step two, you need a place to stay.” Gabby tries to get us back on track.

“Correct.”

“Ivory, did they say why they were shutting down?” Taylor asks.

“Yeah, me and that guy are the only ones here so even if the guidelines weren’t requiring them to close, the risk for the employees to keep traveling to the island is too great.”

“If it’s anything like what is going on here, guidelines are getting stricter and it will be much the same for other hotels or resorts.” Gabby confirms my fear.

“That’s what I was finding when I was searching today. Which is why I’ve called you two. I don’t know what else to do.”

“I may have an option. Let me make a call when we hang upand I will let you know.” Tay doesn’t sound optimistic but at least there is a possibility. I’m curious what call she is going to make. I’ll have to ask her later.

“So now that we have a tentative plan, are we going to talk about this guy you mentioned?” Shit, I was hoping Gabby didn’t ask.

“Hmm?”

“Don’t do that. You’ve mentioned this guy twice now. Who is this guy?” Gabby is intrigued. I never mention guys anymore.

“I don’t even know who the guy is. Is it really just you and him at the resort?” Tay chimes in.

“Yeah, it seems that way.”

“Have you seen him since the reception desk?” Gabby probes.

“He’s staying in the villa beside mine.”

“Is he hot?” Taylor asks at the same time Gabby says, “Have you talked to him?”

“Um, yeah.”

“I know what you’re doing.” Damn, Gabby can read me like a book. She’s not even looking at me.

“What do you?—”

“She’s totally hiding something,” Tay instigates.

“Spill, sister.” I can picture Gabby readying for the tea.

“We may have met in the bar the second night I was here. Talked over dinner and then he walked me back to the villa.”

“You didn’t tell me that.” Tay gasps. She hates being left out of the know.

“I called you a few days later. You didn’t mention that.” Surely, Gabby is raising an eyebrow at me on her end of the line.

“Nothing happened. It didn’t seem important.”

“She met a guy at a bar on her solo vacation and it didn’t seem important, she says.” I just know Gabby is rolling her eyes.

“Not only that but she clearly saw him again at the reception desk and failed to mention it to me when I called about the firstrescheduled flight and said “a guy” had already told her about it.” Tay eggs her on.

“Any other meetings you are leaving out?” Gabby questions me like I’m a witness on trial.

“Well, after the reception desk situation, he asked me to go for a walk.”

“And did you go on said walk?” Gabby continues her interrogation.
