“That’s why you didn’t fuck her? Because you were guilty?”
“You sneaky fuck?”
He cuts his eyes at me. “You need to talk about your feelings, brother.”
I growl and look out of the window. “It doesn’t matter if I talk about them or not. Last night was a mistake and won’t happen again. It’s for the best.”
“Makes sense. Don’t get attached and just fight your feelings because nothing can go wrong then. Your feelings will just stop and disappear.”
I caught every ounce of sarcasm in his words, but ignore him.
We turn down a small alleyway beside a large building we just purchased several months ago. It used to be a dance club twenty years ago and has sat vacant and empty since. We want to do something with it, but we don’t know yet. We’ve talked about reopening it as a dance club, but we aren’t sure.
“She’s like a vixen, Jax. She’s not going to just disappear quietly or gently into the night. She’s got too much spirit and fiery personality.”
“Sheisa vixen.” A vixen who is worming her way into our lives and making a home there. It hasn’t been very long, but the bond… the pull drawing us all together is undeniable. Like our past lives were intertwined and we’ve just been waiting.
We enter through the side door into a hall that leads to a two-story room. The painted black walls are chipping with several holes throughout where looters have come in and trashed the place in years past. Torn booths sit haphazardly on the floor, while dangling lights hang overhead. We make our familiar trek upstairs into the office that sits in the back corner and punch the code in to unlock the door. It’s the only thing we’ve done to the place since we bought it.
When the door opens, the iron chains jangle together as the forlorn man backs into the corner to hide.
EVERLEE - BACK DOOR, ONLY DOOR
WhenIwakeup,Jax is gone. I’m not shocked or hurt, maybe I should be, but while last night felt amazing, it also felt temporary. Even in those last moments before we fell asleep, when he pulled me in tight, it almost felt like… he was treasuring the moment while it lasted. I saw a different side of Jax last night. A more vulnerable side. One that I don’t think he will ever share again.
My stomach growls. A gentle reminder I need to fill it, so I roll out of bed, gather my clothes and pad down the hall to my room. I don’t take the time to actually put clothes on, because at this point, everyone in this house has seen me naked and I’ve also never been shy about my body.
Twenty minutes later I’m walking down the stairs into the kitchen and find Knox and Callum sitting at the bar nibbling on muffins and drinking coffee and tea. I’ve learned that Callum likes his coffee, while Knox seems to prefer his morning tea.
Knox looks at me and starts pumping his eyebrows. “Good morning.”
A blush tinges my cheeks. “Good morning.”
“I’m glad you and Jax made up.”
“I’m not sure we did.”
“Sounded like it. Although it’s kind of shitty he didn’t let you play with his cock. What a glorious cock it is.”
“Did you listen to the whole thing?”
“Would you be mad if I said yes?”
My stomach tightens and I feel my eyes pulse.
He sees my reaction and smiles. “I knew it, you little kinky fucker.”
“Shut up.”
“Can’t. I have no filter and just say what pops into my mind.”
“It’s true,” Callum says, standing up and planting a kiss on my forehead. “Emmett was supposed to cook breakfast this morning, but got held up with something.”
“So, again, I had to fill in.”
“You didn’t cook again, did you?”
“Stop! That was just one time. And no. I would have, but Callum made me go to the bakery down the street and buy muffins.” He opens his arm wide to show the assortment of muffins on the stove.
