“I know! The pretend version. But now it’s real and I’m freaking out. I want it to be perfect and that’s preventing me from making any decisions at all.”

“No matter what you choose, it will be perfect because it’s you and Tony.”

She fake gags, “Just kidding. Say it again. Really, just the I’m perfect part.”

“But I don’t think that’s what I said.”

“See, that’s what I heard.”

“I love you. Shit!”

“What?”

“I forgot to tell you.”

She taps her fingers rapidly together like she’s ready to gossip or just cast an evil spell. It could really go either way with her. “Tell me, now.”

“Emmett said he loved me yesterday.”

She inhales a large, loud, dramatic, over the top, lean back in the chair, hands flying in the air, breath. “Shut the front door. Rather, the back door.”

“Back door?”

“For some reason, the front door reminds me of the pearly gates and heaven… and well… you know.” She shrugs. “So I think back door fits better for you… opposite… plus you like the backdoor.” She winks.

“So, the back door of hell?”

“You said it, but really, why are we still talking about this? He said he loves you!!”

I smile.

“Ev. That’s exciting. When’s the wedding?”

“Ha. Too soon.”

She snarls. “If you get married, then I can just plan yours and ignore mine.”

“You know I won’t be getting married.”

“Ev. You know, that I know, that you know there’s a chance.”

I take in a deep breath, but like a normal person. Quiet like a church mouse, not an overly dramatic elephant in water. “It’s ok though. Marriage is your thing.”

“Did you tell that sexy mountain man you loved him back?”

“I did. Before he fucked me. With Jax.”

“You dirty hooker. Tell me more.”

“No. That’s all you get.”

“You clit tease! My vagina just barely started to tingle.”

“I have to get back to work.”

We throw our trash away and she walks with me down the sidewalk back to my building. “Did you talk to them about…” she looks over her shoulder, “the new art classes you want to take?”

My brow furrows before I remember what she’s talking about. “Yea.”
