“Okay...” I look out the window, sitting up in my seat. “This doesn’t feel ominous at all,” I murmur, the run down buildings giving me the creeps.

“I don’t know how I feel about this, Lexi,” Emmett says as we pull into the parking lot of a massive warehouse, eyeing me with concern. “This doesn’t feel safe. And there’s no way in hell I’d put you at risk.”

“Good thing I have this then.” I reach into my purse and pull out a gun.

“Fucking hell, Lexi! Where the hell did you get that?”

“My purse.” I raise a brow. “You just saw me pull it out.”

He gives me a blank look. “Not what I’m talking about.”

I roll my eyes. “Don’t worry, I brought one for you too.” I pull another gun out and hand it over to him.

“Fucking hell, Lexi.”

“Don’tLexime. Not my fault, you didn’t know what you were getting into when you fell for my ass five years ago. Well, surprise! I turn into a crazy person when I'm pregnant and hormonal. You’re stuck with me big guy, so suck it up and let’s go see what the hell our Alphas are doing.”

Emmett curses when I get out of the truck and scrambles to follow after me. I regret it immediately as I head towards the building, fear swirling in my gut. We came all the way here, I’m not backing down.

“Stay behind me,” Emmett hisses, catching up with me. “We have no idea what is going on in there. You know their line of work, Lexi. I should throw you over my shoulder and take you back to the truck right now. We can comfort them after they’re done doing whatever it is they’re doing in there.”

“You can’t tell me you’re not just the least bit curious?” I ask him.

“Of course I am, but I also don’t have a death wish,” he hisses. “We’re not going in there, Lexi. It’s not safe. Come on.”

I sigh, letting my shoulders slump. “You’re right. Let’s go back to the truck.”

He sighs in relief, nodding his head. He turns around and starts walking toward the truck. I, however, spin around and sprint toward the door.

“Lexi!” he hisses. “Fucking hell, woman.”

I throw the door open and duck inside, Emmett not far behind me.

“You are such a brat,” Emmett growls. “Lexi, let’s go.”

He grabs my arms, but we both pause when we hear a scream. My blood runs cold, and my stomach sinks.

Emmett and I look at each other with wide, fearful eyes.

Then we hear Sloane’s laughter. “Scream all you want,” he taunts, his voice echoing through the building. “No one's gonna hear you.”

Ah, we did. Does that count?

“Whatever you want, it’s yours. I can get you money,” the person begs.

“We don’t want your fucking money,” Aiden snarls. “No amount of money can make up for what you did to our fucking Omega.”

That has my whole body stiffening. Emmett’s brows furrow. Who do they have down there, and which Omega is he referring to?

“Who’s your Omega?” the guy asks. “I promise, whatever they said I did, they’re lying.” The sound of skin hitting skin echoes and the guy cries out.

“Don’t fucking dare try to save yourself by lying,” Sloane barks.

Temptation wins, and before I know what I’m doing, I creep toward the railing. Peering down, I see my Alphas. They’re standing with their backs to us, blocking the guy they’re torturing.

Holy fuck, they’re torturing someone down there.

Why the hell am I not freaking out, or scared? I should be running for the hills. I know this is part of their jobs, buthello, red flags!
