“We make it hurt,” Aiden growls.
“He’s going to be begging for his death,” I chuckle.
“Good. We’ll gladly give it to him.”
Fucking right we will.
We’re coming for you, Luke. Hope you enjoyed the life you've had until this point, because it’s all over now.
Lexi
When I wake, something doesn’t feel right.
Sitting up, I rub the sleep from my eyes and look around. Emmett is sleeping soundly next to me, lips parted as he snores softly. But the Alphas aren't in bed.
We got home yesterday. Thankfully, the snow stopped, so we had better visibility on our drive back. After a very eventful few days, we all got an early sleep.
Frowning, I grab my phone and look at the time. It’s noon.Huh.I normally don’t sleep in that late. Would make sense why the guys aren't here.
Getting out of bed, I slip on a pair of fluffy slippers and my pink puffy robe.
As I head downstairs, I note that there are no other sounds in the house. When I get to the bottom of the steps, I look around, not seeing either of them. Heading back upstairs, I check their room. All of their things are still here, but they’re not.
Back downstairs, I open the front door and find their truck gone. Maybe they went out to get lunch?
I go back to my room and grab my phone from my nightstand. I unlock the screen to give the guys a call when I see a text message from Sloane.
Sloane: Hey, Kitten, I’m so sorry you woke up to find us gone. We got called into a last-minute mission for work. We will be gone for a few days, but we’ll be back soon. You both looked so cute sleeping, we didn’t want to wake you. Give Emmett a kiss for me and tell him to behave ;) xoxo
What the actualfuck? You have got to be kidding me. They just up and left for work. Didn’t even bother to talk to us first? I throw my phone, frustrated tears filling my eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Emmett asks, his voice thick with sleep.
I turn to look at him, tears streaming down my cheeks. “They left us,” I sob. “They justleft.”
“What?” his eyes widen, fully awake now. “The guys?” I nod my head, sniffing. “What do you mean they just left us?”
“They’re gone.” I get up and grab my phone, opening the text to show Emmett. “See?”
With a furrowed brow, he reads over the text. “Baby, it says they left for work. They’re going to come back.”
“That’s what they want us to think.” I glare at him. “This is their easy way out. They decided that this pack life is too much for them and they don’t want us anymore. And left.”
Emmett’s lips twitch with amusement.
“Don’t you laugh at me.” I wag a finger at him.
“Peaches,” he chuckles, climbing out of bed to pull me into his arms. I go begrudgingly, letting him wrap his arms around me. “Let’s not go overboard, okay? How about we call them?”
Emmett takes my phone and pulls up Sloane’s contact. It goes right to voicemail. Doesn’t even ring. He frowns, then tries Aiden’s. Same thing.
That's when my heart really starts to race as I feel my stomach churn, wanting to fall out of my ass.
“Let me try my phone,” he says, going to grab his.
“What will that do? You think they just blocked my number or something?” I ask.
He tries anyway, and the same thing happens to him.
