“Nothing,”Billie and I said in stereo.

Phin slid hishand around my waist and tugged me close. “What did you do, Noxy?”

“Will you let itbe a surprise, big man? Please?” I begged. “And don’t go searching my mindeither.”

He chuckled, kissing my nose. “I can do that, sweetheart.”

“Thank you,” Isaid, just as the doorbell pealed.

Kade pulled openthe door and I heard him let out a deep laugh. “Did you tell my wife you werecoming?”

“And spoil allthe fun?” an American woman answered. “No way in hell.”

All of a sudden,Sam rushed past me with a squeal of surprise. “Oh my god, what are you doinghere?”

“Bitch, you geta new daughter-in-law while I’m stuck in some veterinarian symposium in Glasgowfor a week, you don’t actually think I’m not coming here before I go home, doyou?”

“I can’t decideif I should be offended by the fact I was actually the one speaking at saidsymposium,” a tall blond man said, walking in behind the woman with a smile,“while she shopped and spent my money.”

“Lennox, love, meet my uncle Connall and my aunt Pepper,” Phineas said.

Pepper waspetite, blonde, and curvy, whereas Connall was tall and blond and looked quitea bit like Kade, only with short hair.

Pepperimmediately pulled me in for a hug. “Oh my god, you are gorgeous. Of course, you’d be the perfect match for Phin. It’s so nice to meet you.”

I blushed. “It’snice to meet you, too. I’ve heard so much about you already, I feel like I knowyou.”

She chuckled.“Oh, I’m sure. I’m the sassy one of the family.”

“Well,apparently, I’m learning your ways.”

She grinned.“Good girl.”

“Come in,”Samantha ordered. “We have wine and food, and Fiona has been researching.”

“Oooh, I loveresearch,” Pepper said.

We joined therest of the family, commencing the consummation of wine and food while Angusunpacked the giant crate filled with books and laid them across the large librarytable.

“So, Fi. Whatwere you able to find out about the newest member of Clan Gunnach?” Kade asked.

I loved hearingmyself referred to as a part of the clan. Outside of Jed and Briar Rae, I’dnever felt a kinship with any of my family, but here among the Cauld Ane I felta true sense of belonging. Like I’d finally found the people who understand whoI am.

“Lennox is aFjarskiptamaður,”Fiona said, barely able to hide her excitement.

“You’re joking,right?” Kade asked.

“What’s a Fjarskiptamaður?”Liam asked.

“Did youseriously not pay attention toanythingHaddi taught us?” Phin asked hisbrother.

“It means Lennoxcan teleport,” Fionna said.

“I thought the Fjarskiptamaðurwere a myth,” Kade said.

Fiona smiledwide, shaking her head. “Everything’s a myth until it’s not, big brother.”

“Fair point,”Kade said.
