“I think youneed to take Blue Fang for a start,” I suggested.
She nodded. “Andsleep clothed going forward.”
“Aye, that too,”I agreed, although, I didn’t like that option. I faced her once I turned off thecar. “I promise, sweetheart, we’re going to figure this out. It’s justsomething to do with your new abilities. It’s nothing to be frightened of.”
“Your lips toGod’s ear,” she mumbled.
I grimaced.“Come on, let’s get back upstairs.”
We headed backto the flat, where I administered her a dose of Blue Fang, then watched herlike a hawk for the rest of the night while she slept. Whatever this was, itwasn’t anything we’d ever seen before, and I was going to protect her with mylife.
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Lennox
PHIN’SAUNT, FIONA, and her husband, Angus, arrived on Sunday wheeling a crate full ofancient tomes behind them.
“Och, it’s solovely to meet you,” Fiona said as she hugged me.
She had darkhair with a light complexion and flawless skin, and she was about the sameheight as Samantha. She was stunning. Angus was a large man, stocky and builtlike a wrestler, and his dark red hair was trimmed short. He looked like abrawler… someone you would not want to get in a fight with.
“You, too.”
“Did you findsomething?” Phin asked.
“I did,” shesaid, then clapped her hands.
“I had tophysically keep her from coming over last night,” Angus said.
“True story,”Fiona confirmed.
“Come on intothe library, Fi,” Kade said. “Samantha has wine and canapé set up for everyonewhile we wait for dinner.” He turned to me. “But if you’d like to have timealone, that’s absolutely fine as well.”
I shook my head.“The more brains the better, I think.”
Youcansay no, Lennox.
I know, honey, but I want to figure out what happened more.
He gave me agentle squeeze and we followed everyone into the library.
“Lennie!” Billiecalled, rushing into the library behind us.
I grinned. She’ddecided that I was to be ‘Lennie’ from here on out to match her ‘Billie’ sincewe were now sisters, and she’d always wanted a sister because brothers are soboring.I couldn’t have agreed more, so the nickname stuck.
“Hey, where haveyou been all day?” I asked.
“Scheming,” sheadmitted.
Phin narrowed hiseyes. “What are you scheming, Wilhelmina?”
I faced her andgrinned. “Did you…?”
Billie nodded.“I did.”
“Oh, my word,thank you.”
“What’s goingon?” Phin demanded.
