I grabbed mywallet, keys, and some clothes for Lennox, then headed out of the flat towardthe elevator. The second you can give me anything that might tell me whereyou are, love, I’m on my way.

I arrived in thegarage and headed for the Mercedes, worry distracting me from focusing onLennox. I was trying to figure out exactly when she woke up and how far shecould have run in such a short amount of time.

Phin, I needyou to keep calming me, please, because I’m seriously melting down here.

Fuck, sorry,love.

I connected withher emotions again, calming her, as I started the car.

Thank you.Okay, I found a menu.

I frowned inconfusion.Wait, you got into the shop?

I was alreadyin the shop.

How did youget into the shop?

I don’tknow,Phin. I woke up here.

Jesus, okay, love. We’ll figure this out.

I’m atMcTierney’s Sweets. Isn’t that the gelato shop that was closed yesterday?

Aye, love.

How the heckdid I get inside a candy and gelato store at three o’clock in the morning?

I don’t know,sweetheart, but I promise, we’ll figure it out.

I pulled out ofthe garage and headed toward the Mile. Luckily, the flat wasn’t far, and sinceit was the middle of the night, there was no traffic.

Pulling up tothe shop, I jumped out of the car, and peered into the window, knocking on theglass. It’s me, love.

Lennox’s headpopped up from behind the counter and she gave me a little wave. How are yougoing to get me out?

That part’seasy. Get ready to run because if the alarm goes off, the police won’t be farbehind.

She nodded.Okay.

I used mytelekinesis to unlock the door, waving her over as I pushed it open. As Isuspected, the alarm sounded immediately, so we made a break for it, jumping inthe car and driving away like we’d just robbed a bank.

“Oh, my word, honey, that was close,” she panted out.

I glanced at herand smiled. “What are you wearing?”

“I found anapron hanging in a back room. We’ll need to find a way to return it to themafter we wash it, of course.”

“I’m sure theywon’t miss an apron, love.”

“Phineas DaltonJames Gunnach, I have never stolen anything in my life, and I won’t start now.Well, except for books… but that was once.”

“You stolebooks?”

“One time but Isecretly mailed the money to them in an unmarked envelope. That’s not importantright now. We’ll return the apron with an apology note, and some kind of gift.”

I chuckled.“Okay, Noxy, we’ll do that. I did bring you a change of clothes. Check the bagat your feet.”

“Oh, my word, Ilove you,” she breathed out, switching her apron for the T-shirt and yoga pantsas we returned to the garage. “What should I do about going back to sleep?”
