“So, Spencer,” Mira says, bumping my side.
“Yeah, Spencer,” I say. Pretty sure that came out as a sigh…I’m screwed, bringing my gaze back to the bar.
“He looks sexy. I didn’t know the tiny geek had it in him.” I narrow my eyes on her.
“What? I got it right. He is a geek, not a nerd. Someone has already schooled me on these things.”
I roll my eyes, “Was it Jules that schooled you in the difference between a geek and a nerd?” When I get no response, I follow her line of sight. Leaning in, “you shouldn’t stare, it’s not polite.” That earns me a hard punch to the arm, and I laugh.
We grab the drinks and head back to the table. Jaxon is now sitting down next to Spencer and they seem to be in a serious conversation. I don’t want to interrupt, so I take my time and hand Alex his drink first.
“Yay, thank you!” says Alex. He grabs the drink out of my hand with lightning speed and takes a giant gulp.
“No problem!” I say, patting him on the shoulder.
When I’m finally at Spencer’s side, I hear him and Jaxon make plans for getting lunch later this week. I wonder what that is about?
Jaxon gets up from his seat and claps me on the back. “I’ll let you have your seat back,” he adds with a wink.
I slide into the now vacant seat. “I told Leo this was for you. It’s a new wine that he wanted you to try, so if you don’t like it, you can blame him.” Spencer laughs as I hand him the wine.
“He knows what kind I like, so I’m sure it’s good.”
I feel a twinge in my chest. I hope I get to learn what kind of wine he likes.
Spencer swirls his glass around a moment, then takes a sip and a small moan escapes. The sound makes my cock jump.
“It's perfect,” he says, “I like it. It’s a sweet wine with just a hint of dry.”
When he turns to look at me, I get lost for a split second in his eyes before I say what I should have said the moment I saw him. “You look stunning.”
A blush creeps up his neck to his cheeks and I’m a goner.
“Thank you,” he says.
“Are you happy your exam is over?” I ask.
“So happy. I never thought I would be done.”
“That's amazing. Earning your degree while running Dragonfly Books has to be hard.”
Everyone has been careful when they speak about Spencer and the bookstore. I know there is more to the story of how he became the owner of Dragonfly Books at such a young age.
Spencer makes a quick glance in Jules’ direction, then Alex.
“Yeah, it’s not the easiest, but I make do with the help of my friends,” he says.
Spencer looks back at Jules and she nods at him, squeezes his shoulder and whispers close to his ear. A warm smile appears, and he leans into her half embrace.
“Hey Finn? Spencer? You guys want in on a game of pool?” Dom yells from the nearest pool table. I arch a brow in Spencer’s direction?
“What do you say, friendly game of pool?”
Spencer laughs. “Yeah, you haven’t played with Jasper before... I’m in.”
We grab our drinks and head over. Spencer looks through the pool cues before grabbing one.
“I’ll get us another round of drinks,” Dom says.
