"Good. That's good." She took the seat offered to her.
"Why don't you tell us how you know where she's at," Locke said.
"I work for him, if you want to call it that. He's always been eccentric, but never this unstable. I don't know what caused this break with reality, but it scares me. He scares me."
"Has he done something to warrant your fear?"
“He….has a temper,” was her reply.
“Has he hurt my mate?” Yaeger asked, fearing the answer.
She wouldn't look at them and Yaeger growled. He needed to get to his mate.
"Easy, brother," Yin said, resting a hand on his shoulder.
"All right. You're safe here. No one is going to let you get hurt again. Why don't you tell us where we can find Yaeger's mate and we'll take it from there," Locke told her.
The woman didn't hesitate to give them an address.
"Silas?" Locke asked.
"That's the same address I've got," he replied.
"Then we're good to go. Let's roll."
"He has a couple of bodyguards with him," the woman told them before they could leave.
"Mind if I come along?" Yin asked. "I haven't had a good fight in a while."
"The more the merrier," Yaeger replied as they headed out to the SUV. He let Locke drive because he was too agitated.
He slid into the passenger seat and drummed his fingers on the dashboard as they made their way to their destination.
"Oh, isn't that cute? He thinks he can keep us out with a security gate," Silas said. "Give me a minute and I'll have it hacked," he added. He hopped out and sure enough, a few minutes later, the gate was opening.
They drove through and pulled up to the front of the mansion. Yaeger got out and stalked up to the front door.
"Let's be smart about this," Locke said just as Yaeger started pounding on the door.
The door opened and the familiar scent of his attacker hit him. He wasn't expecting the man of the house to answer the door himself. Then he caught the faint scent of his mate and about lost it. He reached forward and gripped his shirt. "Where is she?" he snarled. "I can smell her on you."
"That's right, I've hadmy precious gem, andshe loved every second of it." The bastard smirked, not realizing the danger he was in.
Yaeger lost it then. He threw Bryce into the yard, then pounced on him, pummeling him with his fists. They traded blows back and forth, each getting good hits, and then Bryce shifted. That's what Yaeger was waiting for. He shifted as well and tore into the smaller beast. True, the wolverine shifter was fast, but Yaeger had brute strength. They shredded each other with their claws and then Yaeger got him pinned. With one final move, he ripped the other shifter's throat out.
During the fight, the two bodyguards had come out and both Yin and Knox had taken them on. By the time it was over, all three were dead.
Yaeger shifted back to human form. He was bloody and cut up, but he was alive.
"It's a good thing we always keep a change of clothes with us," Locke said, tossing him something to put on.
"Thanks, man. Now I need to go find my woman," he said once he was dressed. He searched room by room until he found one that was locked. "Frankie, darlin', you in there?"
"Yaeger? Thank the Gods. I knew you'd come."
"Stay back," he said as he kicked the door in. Then she was in his arms. When she winced, he cocked a brow. "Why are you wincing?"
"It's nothing."
