"Sky? Chloe? What's wrong?" Clint shoved past me, his eyes taking in the room. When they settled on the intruder that still lay unconscious on the floor, he turned to Chloe. "You okay?"
She nodded, one hand still pressed to the bruise blooming on her cheek. "Sky saved me."
Clint nodded, reaching up to place his hand on the back of my neck and speaking soothingly to me. "It's okay, Sky. I'm here and Chloe is safe, you can shift back now."
I twisted my head to look at him in confusion and gasped when I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror.
My shoulder length hair was ratted into dreadlocks that fell below my waist, my shoulders were wider, my jaw longer, and long fangs poked free of my blood-caked lips. Looking down at Clint, I realized that I'd somehow gotten taller, as well.
"It's okay," Clint soothed, his Alpha voice wrapping around me like a comforting blanket. "You're fine. Just breathe in and out. Slowly." He squeezed my neck again as I tried to mimic his breathing. "That's right. Good job, Sky. Colt will be very proud of you. You did good."
As my breathing slowed, pain wracked my body as it twisted and contorted, but through it all, Clint soothed me, until finally I was back to my human form, breathing normally.
I looked from Chloe to Clint and back to where the security force was loading the stranger onto a backboard.
"What the hellhappened?"
