"Is there any way to trace it?"

León shook his head. "Not something like this. If it was a better model, maybe, but these things are cranked out by the hundreds in factories in China." León snorted. "It's the type of crap someone who thinks they’re smarter than a box of rocks would purchase."

Rob rubbed his hands over his face before planting them on his hips and blowing out a breath. "Is there a way to track them?"

León squinted. "I just told you—"

"No, I mean, is there a way to track whether there are any inside the house? It's a big place. It'll take forever and a day to search it."

"Oh, yeah. I have a bug wand in the car." León shrugged again when everyone looked at him. "I might be out of the business, but the knowhow never leaves."

"Can you sweep the inside of the mansion?" Rob asked. "We found this device at Luca's nana's house. You remember those two men I banished when Erik was kidnapped?"

George and León nodded.

"They've kidnapped Luca's nana. In order to get her back, they've demanded that Randal to kill me."

Randal swallowed tightly when George and León glanced at him. "I'm not going to do it," he protested. "But we have to get Luca's nana back before they hurt her."

"I'll get my sweeper," León said as he pulled away from George and then walked down the steps toward his car.

"They're really threatening to hurt his nana?" George asked.

"They said they'd kill her unless I killed the alpha," Randal admitted, "but I think they plan to do that no matter what I do."

Randal wrapped both arms around Luca when he whimpered and pulled him into a hug. "I think that my father knows Luca is my mate. That's the only reason I can think of that he would threaten his nana."

George's eyebrows lifted. "This is your father doing this?"

"My father and brother."

"Were those two guys the ones that were beating you up?"

Randal frowned. "How do you know about that?"

"I was there."

"You were?" Randal didn't remember that, and he was pretty sure he wouldn't have forgotten a man of George's size. He was kind of hard to miss.

"Yeah." George gave Randal a sheepish grin. "I kind of jumped in when they all went after the alpha. A fair challenge is a fair challenge, but that wasn't a fair challenge."

"Unfortunately, that's how my father operates. He knows he can't win a fair challenge so he either finds someone else to fight his fights or he blackmails and threatens people."

"He sounds like my parents."

Randal's eyebrows lifted.

"They wanted me to be alpha because of my size, and they kept at it until we got banished from our clan. They just forgot to ask me what I wanted."

"I take it you didn't want to be alpha?"

George shook his head. "I've never wanted to be an alpha. I just want to settle down somewhere and live a nice, quiet life with León."

"Well, barring what you've heard about my father and brother, Silver Lake is a nice quiet place. I've lived here my entire life and I can honestly say this is the most lively it's been in years."

George's smile was wide and friendly. "I like what I've seen of the place so far."

"If you have any question, I'd be happy to answer them for you." Randal nodded his head toward Luca. "It looks like we have a lot in common."
