Carlos wouldn't mind being out here all night long, having sex until dawn.That was not what they were going to do, because now they had dressed and would head back into the house in time to eat supper.His stomach growled, and he could smell the amazing aroma of cooked food waiting for them.Once they were dressed, he took his lady's arm and escorted her to the dining room.The meal was there in warmers, and they were both ready to eat.Their wolfish appetite had to be satisfied, and their plates were fully loaded.
“What should we do now that we're finished eating?”Cally asked.
“Let's clean up and turn in early.I want to spend some time with my mate.”
That was exactly what they did, and it was several hours before they fell asleep.The next day started out as expected with a wonderful breakfast and a trip to work.Once they arrived, he picked up his list, and Cally resupplied the truck.They were expecting no problems, but they were always prepared.It was a good thing they were there because this location looked empty and run-down.It was possible that the inside didn't look as terrible as the outside did, so he knew that he needed to approach the door and see what was going on.
An elderly gentleman opened the door, and sweat was running down his face; he looked terrified.“I'm glad you made it.”
“I need to go to the truck and get the supplies, and I'll bring my partner back with me,” Carlos said.
“Hurry back.”The guy looked terrified, and there must be several guys in there with weapons.
“Someone is attacking again.I don't know how many are in there, only that they are keeping an old man hostage and that they think I'm coming back with my partner and supplies.”
“That was the right thing to do.We'll make sure we have what we need as far as weapons go and maybe carry a box in front of us so they can't tell.”Cally suggested.
He walked in front of her with a stunner held behind a box, and he knew she had one in her pocket.Normally, he would look forward to a fight, but he was concerned about the older gentleman getting hurt and risking his mate in case the guys had better weapons than they did.When he opened the door to enter the house, he was ready for anything.
“Lookie here.We've got company, and one of them is pretty.”This was a nasty-looking guy who was extremely skinny and pale.
Carlos dropped the box and began to shoot his stunners at them.Cally did the same thing, and there were six guys lying on the floor, moaning and thrashing.Was this all of them?He looked at the old guy who was shaking his head.That must mean there were more of them hiding in the house.They would have to go room to room to make sure they were all taken out, but they needed to call someone to get back up.
“Call Damon and see if he can send some wardens.”Meanwhile, he had some of his pack on speed dial.He called them and gave them the address.
He wasn't sure if a warden was in this area and could come and help them.He was sure that he had some of his pack nearby, and they would come.Carlos wasn't so stupid as to try to do everything himself, and he also wouldn't allow his mate to be vulnerable.There was only one warden in the neighborhood.He turned up in about fifteen minutes, almost as if he had been waiting for the call.Several pack members also arrived about five minutes after he did.They went through the house but didn't find anyone.
“Did you see more men than we took down?”He asked the older gentleman.
“There were two more, but I don't know where they went.”
“Did you want security installed in this house?”Carlos asked.
“No, I was abducted and brought here.This isn't my house, and I just want to go home.”
“Leo, would you take this man home?”
“Yes, sir.”Leo escorted the old guy out the door and would take him home.
“There is no sign of others in here.Warden Elmo is taking the prisoners to the warden’s office.”George, his third, explained.
“I don’t understand who these guys are,” Carlos admitted.“I don’t believe they were after you.”
“I agree.It looks to me like they are targeting wolves.Tyne has had problems with humans opposed to paranormals.That is who I believe these guys are.If we were having problems with others, they sit back and watch.When they saw that it was dealt with, they decided to act and cause more problems.If it’s these guys, they won't stop until we make them stop.They have an unending amount of money and humans that hate paranormals.”
“I think I heard something about this starting in Alaska.”
“That's exactly the same group I'm talking about,” Cally admitted.“The problem has spread from there, and they are now attacking in several locations.Money and personnel do not seem to be a problem because they're easily captured and often have a great deal of money on them.”
“This is going to be a problem for the business.We will have to add some kind of protection for our teams.Why did they come after you and me first?”
“They tend to come after teams with women on them.For some reason, even though they fail repeatedly, they think women are weak.”
“Maybe we need to ask Tyne to send somebody to help us out with this problem.”He mentioned.
“Ask for Harry because she's the best.”
“Harry the witch?”
