His One
Carlos picked up thelist, which had even more locations.Why was that when they hadn't finished all their locations yesterday?Maybe they were optimistic and hopeful that they would keep doing better.He headed to the truck expecting it to be fully supplied and ready to go because Cally was that good.Instead, there was an odd chemical scent in the air and no Cally anywhere.The only thing that he could assume was that she had been taken.Since they had taken her in a vehicle, he had no way to track her.
Gathering search teams and sending them out in different directions was the only thing he could think of.Those working at the business would not be helpful because the business was already behind.Carlos called the desk at the quarters because they would have the most help at their fingertips.He requested ten quads to cover this area, and he would leave those who worked in his house there if she somehow escaped and returned.They would spread out everywhere, and one of the squads would work with him.
The question was how far they could have taken her and what they were doing to her even now?All the squads went in a slightly different direction, and they would cover this area well.His squad went north and searched every building they could.Those that belonged to his pack would let them search, but there were people who lived here who were human, and those who were not part of his pack.He tried to buy any property that became available, but he still missed some houses.They couldn't search for those, but his sense of smell should pick her up, and he had an instinctive attachment to her now that they had mated.
After they searched for about two hours, he began to worry that they wouldn't find her and that whoever had taken her was far away.That was when he got the call from his guard at the house that someone had brought her back.The guard was concerned because it was an alpha wolf that they knew, and he wondered why this person would bring her home.It made Carlos angry because he suspected the wolf had taken her.Since she was mated, she was not the prize that he had hoped for.Killing a white wolf would be an extreme crime, so he decided to let her go.
He called off the search, and everyone headed home.Carlos was angry at the whole situation.There was no doubt that she had been tranquilized, so he knew that she had taken no part in this.That only made him want to figure out what had happened even more.The problem was that he knew that the Councilman would probably claim that he had saved her.How could he be blamed for that?It would be difficult to prove that he was the one who had taken her.He'd have to find some of the mercenaries involved and make them talk.
That's when he came in the door yelling for his mate.He'd been so worried, but now she was back, and he needed her.His guard had disappeared, realizing that the reunion was a private matter.
“Tell me!”He demanded.
She proceeded to explain to him exactly what had happened as far as she knew it.Hector had claimed to save her and had killed all the mercenaries, so there were no witnesses.
“Come, my love.”He dragged her to his room, and he intended to bed her.
Maybe he should have considered what she’d been through, but he needed to assure himself that she was there and still his.That was what he was thinking as he tore her clothes off and began to make love to her.When he was done, he’d calmed down, and he was ready to decide what he should do now.A phone call was needed.
“Damon!”
“This is Carlos, the pack alpha.Hector the councilman is up to no good, but we can’t prove it.”
“We’ve suspected him for some time.He is sneaky, and we’ve found no proof either.”
“Cally believes he was the one who kidnapped her.Since we had already mated, he killed all the mercenaries he’d hired and brought her home.”Carlos explained.
“Just like a hero.This will only strengthen his position.”
“Agreed.He’ll turn his attention to another now.”
“I wish we knew who,” Damon admitted.
They talked a little more, but it was obvious there was nothing they could do or plan without knowing who Hector was going after.Carlos decided they needed to focus on the new business and their new mating.He told Damon that he would help if they needed it, and he would.All they needed to know was who Hector was going after next.There were far too many single white wolves for them to figure out who they might go after.Location might be a consideration because that was why he had gone after Cally.It had been convenient because she had come to him and visited Carlos, who lived in the same area.
He'd have to let Damon figure that out, and if he did and needed help, that was when they would do what they could.Right now, he knew Cally was tired, and he was as well.They would eat supper, go to bed, and hopefully everything would be better in the morning.
Carlos woke when the smell of coffee and food hit him.He wasn't usually this sluggish in the morning, but all the excitement yesterday had done him in.It was time to get up, and he shook his mate’s shoulder so she would know it was time for her to get up, too.There was no way to make up for the work they had missed yesterday, so they could continue doing their best today.They got ready for work, ate their breakfast, and headed down the road.When they got to work, Cally headed out to the truck to supply it, and he grabbed the list and hurried outside like his pants were on fire.He knew it was unlikely that she would be attacked anymore, but he still worried.
When he got outside, she was fine, and they got in the truck and headed to their first location.Carlos expected a good day because they were mated, so she shouldn’t be a target.So far, so good.They went to the second location, and it was smooth sailing.At the end of the day, he decided their troubles were over for now and skipped the last stop so they would get home a little early.When they turned in their list, the secretary gave them a dirty look.Had she forgotten he was the boss?It looked like she had, but it was her job to try to make everybody do their job the best way they could.
He took them home just a little bit early for supper as was his intention.They went for a walk before supper, and he told the guards to keep a good distance so he and his mate could have some privacy.This should have been their honeymoon, but they were having to work through it, so he wanted at least a little time for romance.Carlos led her to a small clearing in the woods.It was a nice place to relax, but that wasn't what he had in mind.Pulling her into his arms, he began to kiss her and slowly worked on removing her clothing.
Continuing to kiss her, he started removing his clothing until they were both naked.She would worry about their privacy, but he didn't really care.
“Are you sure no one will see us?”Cally asked.
