Justice remembered himself. He remembered that she was off limits and Jeff was waiting on them. How long had they been gone? Justice wanted to stay there, with her in his arms, as long as he could. He knew that he had to get it out of his head though. It was a bad idea all the way around.
He started to realize what he was doing. He had forgotten himself for a minute, who she was and how her brother would react. What was he thinking?
“We have to get up and get back,” Justice told her as he started to get up. Allie whimpered, making a sound that she was clearly not happy with getting up. Justice couldn’t help it though. He had lost his mind for a moment and then he was worried about his life length again. She wasn’t good for that at all. Her brother would kill him if he ever found out…

Jeff didn’t look at Justice or Allie until she was dropped off. He watched Justice say goodbye or the lack thereof in an awkward way, and Justice knew that he had messed up. It was hard to deny it when there was so much in his face. He tried to ignore the looks that Jeff was giving him, but it was impossible. “If you have something to say, you might as well say it.”
Jeff scoffed, “What the hell are you thinking? That’s what I want to say.”
Justice knew that it was coming and again, he would ask the same thing if the situation was reversed. It wasn’t though. Justice was the one that had gone too far. He didn’t want to answer, but knew he had to. He had to know if Jeff was going to start something or not. He had every right, but Justice hoped that he wouldn’t.
“What do you mean?” Justice tried to play it dumb. He couldn’t meet his gaze though. He knew that he wasn’t good at lying, so he didn’t make eye contact.
“You know what I mean. You and Allie? Are you kidding me?”
Justice thought that maybe he had lost it. That’s how Jeff was looking at him in that moment, but Justice didn’t want to answer. He had to, but he knew that he didn’t want to.
“It’s not like it seems.”
“Dude, I could smell sex on you both when you got back. I can still smell it on you, Justice.”
Justice didn’t want to hear that. He wanted Jeff to not know, to not question what he thought was right. Either way, it was really hard for the two of them to talk about such things. It just wasn’t done.
“It just happened,” Justice finally said, knowing full well that it was a cop-out. He wanted to have better reasoning, but he really didn’t.
“If anyone finds out, you’re dead. You know that, right?”
Justice agreed, but he knew that it wasn’t going to stop anything. He was smitten and there was no going back, no matter how badly he wanted to go back.
“No one is going to find out, right?”
Jeff sighed. “Not from me, but man you are playing with fire.”
Justice had to agree, but he couldn’t stop what he was doing. If he and Allie were given a chance again, Justice knew that he was going to take it. What choice did he have?
Chapter 14
Allie
Allie couldn’t put her brother off any longer. He wanted her to meet the new beau as quickly as possible and Allie couldn't find a good enough reason to get out of it. She tried to think of one, but her thoughts were clouded with all of the things she had going on with Justice. Ever since they had been together, Allie didn't think she was ever going to be the same again. She had certainly never felt that way before. He touched her with a delicate grace that she had never experienced, and Allie found pleasure in his arms, but she truly thought it was only part of the story books. It was true though, love, lust, all of it was far richer and fuller than she could have ever imagined. She didn't know if it was like this with every man, but she didn't think so. Allie figured that there was something special between them, she just didn’t know what that something special was.
Ben seemed to pick up on something as soon as they started to leave together. He wanted to know what was going on and what was different about Allie. She didn't know what to say, Allie was actually afraid to say anything at all. She knew right then and there that she only had a couple of weeks until she would have to leave. While she was thinking of how wonderful it was to be with Justice, she obviously wasn't thinking about it very well. She was going to be big and pregnant not too long from then, and Allie was no longer a virgin. There was no way that her intended would accept her that way.
“There is nothing different, I am just coming down with something, I think. I have been feeling off for several days. I wouldn't worry about it too much, brother. I always seem to bounce back better than ever.”
He just kind of looked at her with suspicion for a moment and Allie forced a smile on her face to try to distract him. “You have nothing to worry about. I guess I'm just a little nervous, meeting with the man I am to be mated to. It’s kind of a big deal, the rest of my life. Hopefully, he’s not a complete troll.”
Ben gave her a critical look and said that he had picked her mate himself. Allie thanked him and agreed, but at the same time, she had no idea who he would have chosen. She was a little bit nervous about that, but knew that she was going to have to keep it to herself. Her body was all jacked up and Allie had no idea how the day would end. She told herself that she was going to feel nothing for him. She was in love with Justice after all. It didn’t matter if Ben had gone to the elders for advice on his choice, Allie didn’t think anything of it.

Allie did as little talking as she could on the way. Her brother ignored her most of the time and that was just fine with Allie. She and Ben had never been very close. They had never been brother and sister. Allie was always a responsibility that her brother didn't want. He made it clear he had no choice, whether he wanted to or not, and Allie knew that part of what he was doing was tradition and the other part was his need to get rid of her. She must be such a burden for him. She was always getting in his way, not wanting to do what was told of her, questioning his decisions that affected her life. Allie wasn’t going to apologize for any of it, but she knew that many women were much different, other siblings. Allie didn’t want another parent, the ones she had sucked. She wanted a brother, but her Alpha brother would never be that. Her younger brother Josh was much easier to get along with.
She asked how far it was going to be and he told her that it would be several hours. That was the sort of answer that she was used to. He could never just tell her, it always had to have some ambiguousness to it. Allie wanted to ask more, but she knew better. The answer wasn’t going to come to her.
Not much else was said on the way. Allie tryied to keep to herself, looking out the window. She was nervous. She didn't know how it was going to turn out and then again at the same time, she was scared that someone would find out she was pregnant. If that happened, there was going to be hell to pay.
