“Myla went back to work?”
Kaleb nodded as he opened a case file he’d been working on.
“Is it hard?”
Kaleb looked up.“What?”
“Having so many men give her attention?”
Kaleb thought about denying it, but he knew he could trust his partner with anything.“Fuck, yes,” he said and leaned back.“Everywhere we go, she gets attention. The only time I feel settled is when we’re at my house.”
“It will be tough, but she’s worth it.”
Kaleb wiped a hand down his face.“Yes, she is.I just still sometimes wonder what the hell she sees in me.”
“I’m not coming onto you or anything.”
Kaleb snorted out a laugh.
Jeff smiled and continued.“But you’re a very attractive guy, even with the scars. You’ve always and still do get female attention, you just don’t notice it.Does that bother her?”
“I’m so busy watching the guys, I don’t know if she sees me being checked out. She’s never said anything.”
“Ask her.”
“I think I might. It would make me feel better knowing she feels jealousy, too.”
“It will make you feel better. My suggestion: don’t keep letting this eat at you until it comes between the two of you.”
“What are you, Dr.Phil?”
Jeff balled up a piece of paper and threw it at him.“Smart-ass.”
Kaleb caught it and tossed it back.“No, really. It’s good advice.”
“Of course it is,” Jeff said and went back to work.“I’m always right.”
Kaleb just rolled his eyes.
