Chapter Twelve

The month flew by,and instead of his jealousy waning, it grew stronger, and he didn’t know what to do.He also didn’t know if he should even talk to her about it.How do you tell a woman you’re obsessed with her and not scare the shit out of her?

He was waiting for her to get home from work.He never really settled until she was right in front of him.

It was a Friday night, and they talked about going to meet the group at McMalley’s, but he wasn’t sure if he could handle all the attention she would get. He’d had a shitty day, and he was trying to let it go so he could enjoy Myla.

He wiped a hand down his face and started to pace.“Where the hell is she?”He looked at the clock. It was getting close to six-thirty, and she got off from work at five. These were the times his doubts about the relationship got to him.

He relaxed when she pulled into the driveway. He needed to get the building material out of the garage so she could park in there.

“Hey,” she called from the front door.

“Hey.How was work?”

She dropped her purse and leaped into his arms, making him laugh.

“It sucked, Daddy. We had to complete briefs on a case because the trial was moved up to Monday morning. There’s a possibility I might have to go into the office tomorrow, but I really hope not.”

She pressed her lips against his. He’d let her have her way for about a minute until he took over.He would try to keep his control and dominant nature subtle for the most part, but in the bedroom, he was the boss, and she seemed to love it.He couldn’t have done it any other way.

He raised his head.“Are you hungry, Baby?I brought some Chinese home.”

“Oh, that sounds good.”

They both loaded up their plate and sat at the table.

A few bites in, Myla wiped her mouth with a napkin.“Would you mind if we stayed in tonight?I’m wiped.”

He hoped his relief didn’t show.“Sure, Baby.We could watch a movie.”

“Or get ready for bed early and sit out on the lounger and make out?”

He grinned at her.“I like your idea way better.”

She snorted out a laugh.“I thought you would.”

He stood after they finished and grabbed both plates.“Why don’t you go get ready, and I’ll clean up.”

Myla stepped over to him, went up on her tiptoes, and kissed his mouth.“I don’t know what I did to deserve you, Daddy, but I’m not going to question it.”

His smile faded after she’d walked out. When they were together, he was fine.Even better, it was when they were alone that his doubts surfaced, and it started eating at his gut, especially when she wasn’t around. He hated feeling that way, and he didn’t know how to stop it before it ruined their relationship.

The last thing he wanted to do was lose her. While he waited for her, he started the firepit by the lounger they had planned to relax on and maneuvered it closer to the fire, as it was chilly outside.

She came back in her lightweight sweatpants and loose t-shirt with her arms full of blankets.

“Let me go shower, and I’ll be right out,” he told her, kissing her on top of the head as he passed her.

Kaleb was back within ten minutes to find her wrapped up in a blanket and dozing. He smiled.Having his woman under him would have to wait.He could tell from the dark shadows under her eyes that she needed to sleep, and he always did his best to think of what she needed and would ignore the aching need to fuck her like he wanted.

“Easy, Sweetheart,” he said as he lifted her and placed her where he wanted her.

He had her pressed up against his chest, and the blanket wrapped around both of them. With the fire in front of her and him at her back, he knew she’d be plenty warm.

“Mmmm, this feels so good,” she whispered.
