“My skin feels like it’s on fire every time we touch,” I whispered, reaching out to take her hand.

“So, are you saying you feel the same?” she questioned, and I squeezed her hand.

“I do, Kelly. You’re right, I don’t want to ruin our friendship, but I truly believe that you and I would have an amazing relationship. I think we’re already there. I want you as mine, not just as a friend. But I don’t want to lose you if things don’t happen to work out.”

“Something tells me that we won’t have to worry about that. That this path we started on, mind you with no rules actually, feels like the right one for us. And, okay, maybe I might have had feelings deep down where I didn’t want to think about,” she said, making my heart soar.

“Same,” I told her, finally tugging her up out of the seat and meeting her. My hand cupped her cheek, and I drew her in for a slow, sweet, sensual kiss. A kiss that had all my feelings coming out, and all that I could feel returned.

This was perfect.

This was home.

This was how it was all supposed to feel. And I would fight anyone, or everyone, if they tried to take her away from me.

Moments later, we finally broke apart, my forehead touching hers.

“Our last first kiss?”

“Damn right,” I told her.

She giggled, finally looking at the meal. “I guess we should finish eating and then go open up some gifts? I mean, it is Christmas Eve after all.”

“You actually have some for me and wrapped?”

“Duh. I have ninja skills you didn’t even know about.”

I took a bite, giving her an eye before I nodded.

“You did it all at work, huh?”

“Even bigger duh!”

We finished eating then she gathered the plates, setting them in the sink before joining me on the couch.

“I like this,” I told her, handing a few presents.

“Me too. I like it even more, though, that it’s our first Christmas as a couple and not just as friends, and it seems to hold something special in that.”

My heart fluttered at that, and I realized I couldn’t agree more with her.

Chapter 12

Kelly

Istared out my bedroom window, seeing the snow drifting down in its gorgeous white flurries, and had to smile. This was a Christmas I don’t think I’d be forgetting any time soon.

Last night, Josh spoiled me with amazing gifts.

A beautiful necklace with a charm that said, ‘always mine’, which I found cute and questionable, given that we hadn’t talked about a relationship. But he said when he got it, he thought it was a cute friend gift. It just had more meaning now.

Then he got me a special foot massager and a neck massager, which made me ask if he was planning on stopping his personal massages. He said no, but I was worried.

Lastly, he got me the three new books that I wanted, which I know were special ordered. And to top it off, they were hardbacks.

He knew what I liked.

As for him, yeah, he got game day tickets to his favorite football team.
