He took a deep breath. “And you took off to escape him, which is how you ended up here. Forgive me, beloved. I did not abandon you. If I had known Goen would find you, I would never have—”
“Shhh.” She laid a finger on his mouth. “I know. You do not need to apologize. From now on, we go together in our quest for food. No, I was thinking. Before that night…” She ran her other hand over his face, trailing the forefinger across his lips until he was compelled to kiss it. “We were by that lake. Remember it? It was a warm day. There was no one else in sight. We felt like we were the only ones alive.”
“I bet that lake is somewhere near here,” he suggested. “We have not ventured far from our landing sites.”
She paused, her eyes growing blank as she thought. “It is probably that basin I have heard people talk about.”
“A basin?”
“Toomares Basin. Mr. Hampstead says he goes fishing there some weekends.”
He brushed a lock of hair away from her cheek. “I am relieved to know your memories have returned to you.”
“Not all of them. There are still blank spots I cannot fill in. Hopefully, after a while, those will come back to me as well.”
“In the meantime, we need to discuss what we must do next. What our next plan of action should be.”
She peeked up at him with one eye. “I have a suggestion.”
Her impishness made him smile. “I am serious, my love.”
“As am I.”
He laughed out loud. “You are insatiable!”
She reached out to place her other hand on his thigh. “Tell me you are not.”
“Very well. But I get to be on the bottom this time,” he murmured and swooped down on her.
They briefly tussled, being playful before their lovemaking. Nipping without pain, stroking, teasing, licking. Touching and activating those sensitive areas on each other’s bodies that they knew intimately. It was a rare treat when they could enjoy a quiet and uninterrupted interlude.
Juda crawled on top of him, settling herself over his groin. Bending down, she surrendered her mouth to his as he stroked her back and sides. He felt himself lengthening where his erection nestled between her lower lips. He started to reach down to adjust himself, but she batted his hand away in order to grab him and guide him to her entrance.
She was hot and wet and ready for him. No sooner was he partially inside her than she clamped her legs against his thighs and began riding him. He held onto her hips as she squirmed to bring more of him within her pulsing channel. With every thrust he lifted his hips to drive himself harder inside her. In the partial rays of sunlight coming through the curtains, her full breasts bounced, her face glistening with perspiration, her smile of joy reflecting her impending orgasm.
She was piledriving herself over him. It was all he could do to keep her steady and upright as he felt his balls preparing to explode. The mattress springs beneath them squeaked with increasing rhythm. He was on the verge of coming when a hard shudder went through her, and Juda partially collapsed on top of him.
He guided her onto her side, rolling along with her. Grabbing her buttocks, he continued to ram himself into her, pushing and burrowing his way into her tightened channel. Within seconds he felt himself spurting inside her in hard, glorious spasms.
He was still deep within her when their bodies finally came to rest. Bowing her head, Juda kissed his sweaty hair. “Does this place have one of those small waterfalls in which to bathe?”
Cayn chuckled. “It does. Want to share it with me? Afterwards, we can venture off again in our quest for food.”
“That sounds like an excellent plan, my husband.” She started to swing her leg off his hip when she paused. “Cayn?”
“Yes?”
“Of those blank spots I mentioned?”
“What about them?”
“I know we are husband and wife. I know how much we love each other. But…our nuptials…”
He gazed down at her confused expression. “You do not remember the ceremony? Or where we took our vows? Or when?”
She slowly nodded. “Remind me?”
Steeling himself, he drew a thumb over her cheek. “There was no church, my love. There was no ceremony. No priest. No…formalities. We stood in front of the remains of a building that had once been a church, but it had been destroyed by a raging fire. We proclaimed our love to each other and felt that, if there was ever going to be a time when we could make it official, at least to ourselves, that was the time. Our moment in time.”
