“Festival is still on,” he says quickly, and my shoulders sag with relief. “Indoors if it’s still raining, and the generators are gassed up.”

“Gracias a Dios,” I breathe, feeling about a hundred times better.

But then the pressure comes back. No cancellation means no extra day. Tomorrow is still our last working day. Maybe we could do some decorating early Saturday morning, but that’s pushing it.

“Where’s Cole?” Gabe asks.

“She asked about Belle,” Marcus says.

“Oh.”

I frown. “I didn’t even know he was divorced when all this started.”

“He keeps it to himself,” Gabe responds.

Keeps a lot to himself, I think but don’t say.

“We need to get to work,” I say, and Gabe nods.

Marcus starts to strip down right in front of us, peeling his shirt off his muscled chest.

My mouth goes instantly dry and I forget what I was saying.

“We’ll be trapped here all night,” Marcus says as he works his way out of his jeans, wearing only a pair of black boxer briefs beneath. “The roads are barely passable with my truck, and it’s only getting worse.”

I tear my eyes away from his abs and frown.

“Does that mean the festival still might get canceled?”

Marcus shakes his head. “Forecast says it clears out tomorrow, so barring any damage…”

“I’ve had enough damage, thank you,” Gabe mutters.

“Shit, your skylight,” I curse, and then make the sign of the cross.

“I fixed it,” Marcus says, and when I look over at him, he’s fully dressed.

Sexy. Fixing a skylight and going to get my supplies in a storm, what can’t Marcus do?

Bonnie Tyler had a point with “Holding Out for a Hero.” Mine apparently drives a work truck.

Cole comes in through the double doors to no fanfare.

He claps his hands together.

“Time to decorate?”

I search his face for a moment.

“Yes,” I say finally, walking over to Marcus and the box.

He moves his bag off it and I dig around for the bat decorations, pulling out a couple boxes.

“These go on the black rose cupcakes,” I say, handing Cole a box. “On the side, not in the middle of the rose.”

Cole grins at me. It barely reaches his eyes.

“Yes, ma’am.”
