“Pacing isn’t going to get him here faster, you know.”

“It might,” I argue.

Cole walks over to the glass doors, looking out.

“He’ll be okay, right? I didn’t just send him to a watery grave?” I ask as I watch the water flooding the parking lot.

What if Marcus slides off the road? What if he gets caught in a lightning storm? What if—

“Of course not,” Gabe says.

“We’re not that lucky,” Cole says at the same time.

I frown, still looking out the window.

Cole comes to stand beside me.

“It’s nearly a half-hour drive even without the storm,” he says softly, putting a hand on my shoulder.

I lean back into him. “So I shouldn’t expect him back yet?”

“Not yet,” Gabe agrees, standing on the other side of me. His hand goes to my lower back, and the warmth of his palm feels nice.

My breath starts to come easier.

“You know,” I say quietly. “If you guys would learn to share, we could have a lot of fun.”

Gabe stiffens but Cole chuckles.

“Needy, aren’t you?”

“Told you I was.” I tilt my chin up to smile at him.

“Problem would be getting Marcus to share,” Cole points out.

Gabe has gone deathly silent.

I twist my head to look at Gabe.

“What about you, Mr. Rivera?”

“Never been one to share,” he admits. “But… maybe I could make an exception.”

“For little ole me?” I grin at him and a ghost of a smile plays on his face.

“For you,” he murmurs, and leans down to kiss the top of my head.

“Hey, I was always willing, just for the record,” Cole complains.

Gabe smacks him on the back of the head.

“Liar.”

Cole yelps and it makes me laugh and for a few moments, I’m not worried about Marcus.

The trill of Gabe’s phone startles all of us.

Gabe steps away, frowning. “It’s Suzanne.”
