I’ve already thought about the tiny socks, the sleepless nights. Which of these three men is going to be the most ridiculous about holding a baby.
My money’s on all of them.
“It’s both,” I say, grinning as I approach them.
“A trick and a treat,” Gabe points out.
Marcus touches me first, placing his hand on my belly, fanning out his palm.
“It’s ours.”
I cover his hand with mine.
His fingers are trembling a little. I’ve watched those hands move heavy pots like they weigh nothing.
I hold his hand steady against me.
“You’re happy?”
He looks up at me. “Yeah, angel.” His voice comes out rough. “Just give me a second.”
I laugh, but my eyes fill. Marcus pulls me against him, careful as hell all of a sudden, and kisses my hair.
Gabe presses a hand over his mouth. When I reach for him, he takes my hand and kisses my knuckles before leaning down to kiss me properly.
“I love you, bellissima.”
“Love you, too.” I brush his cheek. “You okay?”
He nods, smiling even as he wipes at his eyes. “More than okay.”
He looks down at my belly.
“Hello, little one.”
That’s all he says. Three words, and I’m gone again.
Then I look at Cole.
He’s standing exactly where I left him.
“Cole?”
He takes the last step between us and cups my face.
“I’m happy,” he tells me. “In case the lifetime-responsibility speech wasn’t clear.”
I let out a shaky laugh.
“It could’ve used some work.”
“I love you. I want this.” He presses his forehead against mine. “Better?”
“Much.”
I kiss him, and he holds me close until Marcus clears his throat.
“We’re still here.”
