Make or Break

“No. It’s gonna be what it’s gonna be.”

“Honey. I didn’t miss how you made love to me just now - like it might be the last time.”

He sighed. “Yeah, because if shit goes south, it might be the last time I make love to you as Tundra. But, I’m not gonna assume the worst. Let’s get some sleep. You gotta go to work in the morning, and I gotta get to church.”

“I’m going to the clubhouse,” I murmured.

“Mickayla.”

I leaned up and looked at him in the dim moonlight filtering into the room. “No, Tundra. I’m the crux of your issue with them, and I refuse to sit on the sidelines. If they do you wrong, and especially if my brothers or Dad do you wrong, I want to know about it sooner not later. And firsthand is better than secondhand accounts.”

He pulled me close and kissed my forehead. “You’re right, baby. You should be there.”

“Good. If we really felt like living dangerously, we could go two hours early and hang in your room.”

He chuckled. “Not an option, I let Roman borrow my room for tonight. Let’s get some sleep.”

Chapter 20

Behave

Tundra

I stopped for gas and an energy drink before hitting the clubhouse. That allowed Mickayla to get there before me without tipping off her dad or other Biloxi members to what was going on with us. My gut twisted at the upcoming meet. I hadn’t expected to claim Mickayla in front of two chapters. The Biloxi brothers were supposed to be coming next week, and I couldn’t understand why they’d decided to hit Jacksonville early.

My imagination was getting the best of me. This had me wound up tight. Telling myself it would work out only made it worse.

From the mother chapter on down, the club prided itself on allowing brothers to live and let live. Nickel insisting that Mickayla should be off-limits would fly in the face of allowing brothers to live as they pleased. Who I took as an old lady wasn’t anyone’s business, and I couldn’t stop dwelling on that.

If this meet didn’t work out, I’d be torn from a brotherhood I loved.

Losing Mickayla wasn’t an option, though.

I parked my bike and went inside through the back door.

Breakfast platters and boxes of donuts lined the counters.

Punc grinned at me from where he stood in line. “We sent the prospects out to the Italian bakery at the beach for the good donuts, you better grab a plate, Tundra.”

My appetite was nowhere to be found, but I got in line wondering if Mickayla already had a donut. Hell, I wondered if she’d ever been to Cinnotti’s - and if she hadn’t, that would be on the to-do list in the very near future.

My phone vibrated and I pulled it from my hip to see I had a text from Mickayla.

I’m too nervous to eat much besides fruit and some yogurt.

My lips tipped up and I texted back.

If you’ve never been to the donut place at the beach, we’re riding out there.

Her response made me choke and almost drop my phone. It also had me fighting getting hard.

Another cherry you can pop

“Who are you texting?” Punc asked.

I looked up and moved forward in the line. “A woman.”

“Really? That’s good. I was worried you weren’t moving on after Sarah’s bullshit.”
