Blood sighed. “You got a point.”

“Yeah. I’ll be back for church next week.”

“No Monday night pool tourney?” Blood asked.

I arched a brow. “Seeing as two of the three brothers in it would have sliced my patch - that’s out.”

“Nickel’s gonna be your brother-in-law if you make it legal.”

I took a deep breath and nodded once. “Yeah. Like I told Mickayla, it’s a jagged pill to take.”

Blood finished his cigarette and stubbed it out on the ground. “Volt has a certain way of doing things.”

“Most MC presidents do,” I said.

“He should have forced the yay votes to go on record.”

I stared off toward the back gate. “It’s almost like you heard what I told Mickayla.”

“And what was that?”

“Some people wouldn’t vote if they saw it was swinging my way without them.”

Blood’s lips twisted into a strange half-smile. “If you get that, why hold a grudge?”

I spread my hands out in front of my body. “Bluff had no reason not to vote. I helped him and Lex last May. Seems that means nothing to him.”

“Or he was scared,” Blood said quickly.

“Bullshit.”

Blood raised his eyebrows. “That’s the first time Bluff, Ricochet, Nickel, or Lunatic had to vote on someone’s patch. Even if they weren’t scared, they might have choked.”

That was lame, but I was done with this conversation. “I’ll see you, man.”

I trudged into the clubhouse and straight to Blood’s room. The door opened before I could knock.

Abby smiled at me. “Blood texted.” She handed me a bundle wrapped in brown paper. “Wish you were giving this to her here, but I understand wanting to keep it low key.”

I took the package. “Thanks, Abby. Text me the number for the shop you use. I want another patch on her cut before I give it to her.”

Curiosity washed over her expression. “What kind of patch?”

“Wild Child, and I’m thinking a patch that says ‘Brotherhood Always, No Traitors.’”

“She’s not a brother though.”

I nodded once. “No, but it will remind some people—”

“That’s a choice. You should be certain before you do that.”

“Right.”

She reached out for the package. “Gimme that back. I’ll get the extra name patch taken care of. Do you want it under her name or positioned so that ‘Wild Child’ is the first thing someone sees?”

Mickayla was my wild child, the more I thought about it, the less I wanted her actual name on the cut at all.

“Have them remove her name patch and put her nickname there. But I want the Mickayla patch to come back to me.”
