He looks away from her and turns his attention to me.
Her gaze flicks to mine before she turns on her heels and struts out of the room.
I turn back to Lev. He’s already watching me.
Before I can say anything, he pulls me onto his lap and gives me a kiss, surprising me.
“Is that how you’re going to behave with every woman I work with, printsessa?” he whispers over my lips.
“Only if they offer my husband sexual favors.”
“I can’t help that. Women have a habit of chasing me. But do I get points for always choosing you?”
Warmth swells in my chest, stealing my breath.
He’d always choose me?
I’ve never been chosen. I shouldn’t care this much. I shouldn’t need to feel this.
But God help me, I do.
“Yes. Yes, you do.”
“Okay. I have five minutes before I have to head out. I only stopped by to see you. So… kiss me.”
He crooks his finger, beckoning me to move back to his lips. I do.
I rest my hands on his wide, powerful chest and I kiss him.
I allow myself to get lost in his kiss and I push everything else out of my mind.
Everything.
I feel lost when he pulls away.
“We finish this later,” he whispers.
“Okay.”
He presses his forehead to mine briefly and breathes me in, then he gets up and sets me down on the chair.
He glances at me once, before heading out the door.
There are so many things between us that still need to be said. But I like this.
These moments.
He’s made me feel like a person again.
Damn the consequences.
Chapter
Twenty-Five
Lev
Chaos swirls in my mind like a sandstorm, the effect of clashing priorities.
