Wicked Villain

I don’t know who she is and I don’t like how comfortable she is with Lev.

I believed him when he said he hadn’t been with anyone since our wedding, but that does not mean that women—like her—aren’t actively trying to be with him.

When I approach the dining room, I hear talking.

Lev’s voice.

He’s here. My heart skips a beat and my steps quicken.

I assume he’s talking to Zoya. But when I reach the door, I realize my mistake.

He’s not speaking to Zoya. Or even one of the other house staff.

It’s that woman.

Sitting next to Lev, she looks just as polished and perfect as she did at Igor’s party. The pantsuit she’s wearing looks like it was made to show off all her curves and satisfy men like my husband.

What the hell is she doing here? And, at this hour? It’s barely nine.

Lev spots me and his expression brightens. He looks at me as if I’m the most important thing in the room. I blush from the impact, but my focus is guided back to the woman. She’s looking at me now like she’s sizing me up.

“Morning, printsessa,” Lev says, drawing my attention back to him.

“Morning,” I manage.

“Come here.”

I walk in. She keeps her eyes on me, and I keep mine on her.

I sit on Lev’s right, opposite her.

“Gabrielle, this is Korrina,” Lev says. “One of my best senior analysts.”

I look at him, stunned.

Senior analyst?

Of what?

I suppose that explains the document folder on the table. But it doesn’t explain the sexual promises she made my husband.

“Gabrielle,” Lev says, enunciating every syllable.

“Hi,” I offer, already regretting the greeting.

Korrina smiles, revealing perfect white teeth. “Good to meet you.”

If there’s one thing I hate, it’s fakeness. She looks like she’s saying the words for Lev’s benefit. I’m pretty sure she doesn’t think it’s great to meet me.

“I hear you like art,” she continues when I don’t speak.

I glance at Lev. “Yeah. I sketch.”

“Impressive.” She gives me a stiff smile. “Anyway, I’d love to stay and chat but I’d better get going. Lots to do.” She gets up and slides a document folder over to Lev. “Everything’s in there.”

“Thanks.”

Her gaze lingers on him for a beat too long—evidence that I’m right. She wants him.
