Caspian: The Not So Friendly Ghost

She ignored me. “I’m serious. You got ghost powers. Can you do some little supernatural housekeeping shit? Snap your fingers, twitch your nose, say abracadabra, whatever y’all do?”
“I am not Samantha from Bewitched,” Caspian said.
“But can you?”
He took in the room, and the slow grin that appeared on his face made Willow straighten eagerly.
“Yeah.”
Her eyes widened. “For real?”
“Watch.”
Caspian lifted one hand and snapped his fingers.
The change happened so quickly that I nearly jumped.
Decorations vanished from the walls and tables, empty cups and plates disappeared, the fake spiderwebs were gone, and the furniture shifted back into its normal position. Within seconds, the entire downstairs had been restored to the way it looked before Willow decided the home needed to become Halloween headquarters.
I stood and turned in a slow circle. “Oh, my God.”
Willow was even more impressed. “Oh, hell yeah!”
She pointed at Caspian. “Nah, you definitely gotta stay. Do you know how much money we could save on cleaning services?” She looked at me. “And before you say, ‘this is not your house’ just know, I’m thinking about the family as a whole.”
I chuckled. “You’re thinking about yourself.”
“Same thing.”
Caspian laughed.
Willow grabbed her purse and headed for the door. “Anyway, I’m leaving before my husband starts thinking I abandoned the marriage.”
“Your marriage expires at midnight,” I reminded her.
She checked the time. “Then I need to quit wasting valuable marital minutes talking to y’all.”
I laughed. “Please get out.”
“Going. Love y’all!”
“Love you too.”
Caspian lifted a hand. “Be safe.”
Willow stopped with one hand on the front door and turned toward him. “See, now that’s a good brother-in-law. Protective without being nosy.”
She grinned and disappeared through the door.
The mansion finally became quiet.
I stood there for a few seconds listening to the silence before turning toward Caspian.
With Willow gone and the aftermath of the party erased, something about the room felt different.
There was nobody left to interrupt us, no more explanations waiting to be given, and no revenge left unfinished… just us.
“That girl ain’t changed a bit,” Caspian said.
