“Yeah, nigga… mine.”
I nodded slowly. “Well, apparently you ain’t know what the fuck to do with her.”
One of his boys snickered, and Chalis whipped his head toward him.
“Shut the fuck up!”
I smiled. “Oh, now you mad at him too?”
Chalis looked back at me. “Keep playing.”
“What you want me to do? Cry?” I leaned against the console table, completely comfortable in my own house despite three niggas having just walked into it. “Nigga, you cheated on that girl so many times she probably needed a fucking calendar just to keep up with your apologies.”
One of his boys laughed.
I pointed toward him. “See? Even he knows.”
Chalis’s face hardened. “You think you better than me?”
“With Lakelyn?” I laughed. “Apparently.”
He stepped closer. “She was with me before she even knew your ass!”
“And?”
“And you came around thinking you could just take my bitch!”
I straightened immediately.
“First of all, watch how the fuck you talk about my woman. Second, Lakelyn ain’t some shit you bought from the mothafuckin’ store. That girl can make her own decisions.” I stepped closer until there wasn’t much space left between us. “And she decided she was done with yo' ass.”
Chalis’s jaw flexed.
“See, that’s your problem,” I continued. “You keep thinking I took something from you when you're the one who fucked it up, nigga. I didn’t have to steal Lakelyn from you; yo’ dumb ass practically gift-wrapped her freedom and handed it to her.”
“Man, fuck you!” he spat.
I laughed, taking a few steps back. “There you go, getting mad at the wrong nigga again.”
“You don’t know what me and Lakelyn had!” he argued.
I stared at him before slowly smiling. “Oh, I know exactly what y’all had. My baby told me enough.”
His expression tightened.
I shook my head. “Shit, I almost felt bad for your ass.”
“Watch your mouth.”
“Why? You gonna tell me y’all had some beautiful relationship before I came along?” I laughed. “Nigga, you couldn’t even take that girl out to dinner without somebody calling her phone talking about they fucked you last weekend.”
One of his boys covered his mouth, obviously trying not to laugh.
Chalis turned toward him. “I said shut the fuck up!”
“Nah, let 'em laugh. Shit funny. But you doing this all because of a woman?” I shook my head. “Damn, my nigga. You can’t find another bitch?”
“I don’t want another fucking woman!” he shot back.
