The bell over the door jingled, and whatever he was about to say died in his lips.

I followed his gaze.

Becky.

Denali’s ex-wife stood just inside the door with her purse hitched up on her shoulder and her sunglasses pushed up into her hair, and she was glaring daggers at the three of us.

“She must have your ass on LoJack or something, P,” I grunted.

Seriously. The woman was everywhere lately.

Monday she parked across the street from the clubhouse and sat there just staring for hours. Wednesday she’d shown up at Heaven’s Door while we were collecting the take from the night before. Then she’d shown up at the Arena later that night looking for Denali, and Kodiak had to turn her away at the elevator.

Denali groaned. “No fucking shit. The bitch won’t take no for an answer.”

I wasn’t sure what that meant and honestly I didn’t really care. It wasn’t my business.

“Fuck me,” he muttered, pushing to his feet. He pointed at Zeus, who’d been quietly working his way through a plate of cinnamon rolls the whole time. “Keep an eye on things till I get back.”

Mouth full, Zeus nodded.

Denali eyes then shifted to me. “We’ll finish this later.”

I grunted.

Great.

Stalking across the room, he grabbed hold of Becky’s arm and marched her out the door.

“That bitch is nuts,” Zeus muttered.

“You ain’t lying,” I agreed as my phone started ringing in my pocket.

Shifting my weight to one hip, I dug it out and glanced at the screen.

Angel.

Frowning, I checked the time in the corner. 7:52.

What the fuck? She should be at work.

I slid my thumb across the glass and pressed the phone to my ear. “Everything okay?”

“No,” she groaned. She sounded like somebody had stuffed her nose full of cotton. “I’m sick.”

“Okay?”

I wasn’t trying to be an asshole, but I didn’t know what the hell she wanted me to do about it. She sounded like she needed to be in bed, not on the phone with me.

“I need you to come get the kids.”

I cursed under my breath.

I’d canceled everything today so I could move all my shit into the apartment upstairs and then go shopping for furniture and shit.

“Jaxon?”

I pinched the bridge of my nose and sighed heavily. “Alright, sis. I’m on my way.”
