“Are they hot wolves, at least?” Jess glanced over curiously.

“I’m fucking pregnant, so no. I don’t want any hot wolves on me right now. I don’t want anything hot on me. I want a fan, a pint of ice cream, and the worst K-dramas you guys can find. Gio and Syl have been too busy for movie night and they hate them.” Lex sulked. I didn’t care for the shows, but then again, I wasn’t much of a fan of TV in general. Bitty and Jess loved them, though.

“Oooh, girls plus guy night in the new house. What kind of food you want ordered?” Jess held up her phone.

“There’s nothing in town.” Lex sagged.

“Bitty can open a portal, or Mesmer can phase for us.” Jess waved her hand aimlessly.

“What about DoorDash?” Lex stared at them and earned blank looks before he sighed. “Nevermind.”

“That’s right. When in doubt, book it.” Jess nodded and practically vibrated as she eyed Lexi and then me. “And we can find out the gender toniiiight.” She sang it and Mesmer perked up for the first time about something that wasn’t dick.

“Did you do the scan?” My heart sank a little because they’d had to dive to access medical equipment and tests so far, and I missed out on so much, but Jess waved me off with a smile.

“No, Lexi finally brought one through a book.” Jess clapped, and I gave Lex a warm smile—proud of my mate. He was having to learn so quickly, because we didn’t know what our future would hold when he had our little one. We didn’t know what the archivists would demand for his service, nor the demand that would be placed on him as a Requisitor.

“So, dinner with a side of ultrasound, I guess.” Lex shrugged.

Mesmer grumbled something about hoofing it to find Bitty and overdosing on Chinese food.

“What about Korean food?” Jess glanced over, and Mesmer hesitated.

“Oooh… Tteokbokki…” Lex actively drooled and I vowed to move heaven and earth to make sure he had just that.

Jess gave me the look.

Lex gave me puppy dog eyes.

“Give me your keys, Lex. I’ll go to Banksdale. Everyone text me your orders.” I winked at my mate. “And nobody look before I get home.”

“I mean, chances are it’s going to be a boy.” Mesmer huffed, and I shrugged.

“Yeah, but… Will he be normal?” I cleared my throat. “Not alpha or omega.”

Jess shrugged. “Does it matter?”

I twisted my lips in thought. “No. No, it doesn’t. Now, I’m off to Banksdale to go obtain spicy Tteokbokki for my mate!”

And if on my way out, Mesmer missed a swipe at my ass for a pinch, I pretended not to notice as we both left, him in his car and me in Lex’s.

I needed my own car, now.

And a car-seat.

I swore under my breath. Maybe while I was out, I’d bring back the first of our baby things. Maybe.

Chapter Thirty-Four

Lex

Jess drove me to the townhouse I’d been staying at since I arrived, and I stared at the rather bare insides, trying not to have a mild panic attack because Bitty totally went through my dildos.

But then again, her fault for looking, right? Perv.

Actually… My fault for having them when she was around.

As I slid through the apartment, a wall in my bedroom opened up to the inside of another house, the edges of everything blurry and distorted, like I was looking through foggy water.
