I winced. “Demons, gods, angels…”
“Bingo.”
“We’re two separate worlds. But if it’s what you want, you know the protocols.” I sighed heavily.
“I know. I have to give up my position on the board and I forfeit my protection.” Mesmer swung his feet idly.
“You know that I, of all people, won’t turn my back on you. Jess and Bitty are your own personal fan club at this point.” I stood and stretched, stepping back as I caught him leaning in and sniffing, eyes hooded. “Do I need to get one of those squirt bottles after you?”
“Hm?” Mesmer glanced up to meet my eyes.
“Sst!” I made a shooing gesture. “No. Bad horny omega!”
Mesmer whined. “If Lexi says it’s okay—just ten minutes? One itty bitty little knot? Please.”
I grabbed Mesmer by the slack of his sleeve and escorted him out, paper in hand.
“Hey! I just had this suit dry cle—” He hissed and stumbled along as I led him out to the circulation desk.
“Ow! Hey. Easy on me. I can’t…” Mesmer struggled as I doubled up my grip on his upper arm. “Lexi! Zeke won’t share!”
“Share?” Lex glanced up from a book, hand on his stomach, the surface obvious even from a distance now. I could only imagine our little one kicking away. Instead of his hand being lower on his belly, it was just under his ribcage, now, telling me our little one had moved head down.
“I just want one little knot, pleeeaasseee?” Mesmer poked his lower lip out, and Lexi rolled his eyes.
“Mated, remember?” Lex tugged the collar of his shirt down to flash his mate mark. “He couldn’t even if he wanted.”
Mesmer huffed. “Fiiiiiine.”
I mouthed a silent Thank you to Lex and offered him my warmest smile. I couldn’t help but melt a little every time I saw him.
“Seen Bitty today?” Lex glanced around as Mesmer fought free of my grasp and straightened his outfit.
Mesmer cleared his throat. “She’s at the house creating a portal.”
“Do what?” Lex glanced from me to Mesmer, clearly missing the context.
“Oh, good, you got the keys from the realtor?” Jess traipsed up, Isa on her tail. Her messy hair stuck up at all different directions as she smoothed it back in vain.
“Keys?” Lex huffed as he stood, balancing himself to counter the low weight in his hips.
Of all the pregnant omegas I saw in his book, not many were his size, so from all we could tell—he was encroaching on his due date.
“I have signed the last of the paperwork for your new abode as of this morning. Bitty is creating a portal between your hovel and the new estate to move your belongings,” Mesmer fanned himself a little, cheeks flushing.
“Dude, do you, like, need to get some air conditioning or a fan on you?” Lex gave Mesmer a wary glance.
“Mesmer, go home and whack off or something.” Jess rolled her eyes and made a shooing gesture.
He grumbled and crossed his arms. “There’re no knots at home, so the effort is in vain.”
“Maybe you could borrow one of Lexi’s dildos or something. Bitty said she found one with a knot.” Jess flipped her phone around to show her texts and an image of Lex’s under-bed storage.
I expected shame, embarrassment, anything from Lex. He only blinked once, face hardened. “Don’t look at me like that. If I show any weakness, they’ll be on me like wolves. And I’ll let Mesmer answer that one for you.”
Mesmer, who had looked like he’d fuck anything phallic if given half a chance, twisted his face in disgust. “Oh. Ewwwwww. No. Just… No. That’d be like… I mean—you’re using my old dick… But that’s different… But ooh, wolves?”
“Hey!” I huffed.
