I won’t. She should know no one will ever come close, but both Eden and Castor glare at me anyway.
Her lips part before they slam shut again. “Fine,” she huffs. “Bring the entire party back here for all I care, just send me home.”
“Take her back to her room.”
“Lux, please!” she begs.
“Take her back to her room,” I say again at Castor, who reluctantly picks up his shirt and my cloak to cover her shoulders.
“Don’t do this,” Eden cries. “Just send me home! Please, Lux!”
“Make sure her door is locked.” We had a lock fitted on the door to her bedchamber while she was sedated. I hoped we wouldn’t have to use it, but I’m not taking any chances tonight.
“Lux!” she yells, but Castor drags her away before she can shout anything else, hauling my mate over his shoulder with one final glare at me.

After being dumped in my bedchamber, it takes five minutes of me pounding my fists against the door for it to finally swing open. But before I can charge out, I slam face first into Castor.
“And where do you think you’re going?” he murmurs. I can hear his stupid smirk without even looking at him.
“Where do you think? I’m going home. Move.” I try to push past him, but he just grabs my shoulder and steers me back inside.
“You know that’s not going to happen, princess.” His laughter only stokes my anger. “But I brought you something that might make you feel a little better.” He waves a plate of something sweet-smelling past my nose.
Reluctantly, I glance at it. It’s a plate of mallowberries, but they’ve been toasted and sandwiched between two biscuits and melted chocolate.
As he waves the plate closer, I can’t help it, my scowl softens.
“Just leave the plate and go,” I huff.
If I’m not getting out of here tonight, then I’d rather be left alone. At least then I can try to think through all the confusing questions in my mind.
I’d probably start with why in our sweet realm has my chest not stopped aching ever since Lux said he’d bring a whore up from the party?
Castor places the plate on my dresser, his smirk fading. “Do you really hate it here that much?”
“Of course I do. Your brother tricked me and then drugged me for an entire month. An entire month, Castor!”
He shakes his head. “That was for your own good. Your ankle—”
“My ankle would’ve healed just fine on its own.”
“Not with you trying to run away from us every five minutes,” he grumbles. “The healer said we did the right thing by sedating you. Walking on it could’ve caused permanent damage!”
I scoff. “Then you should’ve just taken me home yourself.”
“You know Lux couldn’t let that happen.”
“You mean Lux didn’t want it to happen.” A lump builds in my throat. “I still don’t understand why I’m here, why Lux had you bully me, why he couldn’t just tell me that your parents were faeries. Why did you have to trick me?” None of this makes any sense.
Castor just blinks at me. For a moment he looks like he wants to answer, but then he shakes his head. “He loves you, that’s all you need to know.”
I roll my eyes. But before I can speak again a sudden pain in my head makes me gasp.
A crease forms in Castor’s brow. “Are you alright?”
