Will Curse for Milk

I shake my head again.

“Are you sure? I really would like to assure you that I have my testicles, too.”

And… yeah. Dream or no dream, I’ve hit my limit.

Before he can even attempt to stop me, I spin around and start up the stairs.

“Kate?” His rumbly voice follows after me. “Where are you going?”

Isn’t it obvious?

“I’m going to bed.”

“But—”

“This is a dream. It’s not real. I’m probably already sleeping, so if I go to bed, I’ll wake up there.”

Fingers crossed.

Rather than answer me with words, I get Vincent’s response in the way he starts up the stairs behind me. I ignore him. For the fourteen stairs between the kitchen level and my apartment, I pretend that he’s not hovering on the step directly behind me as I go up.

But then, right as I make it to the top, I whirl around on him.

He’s grinning up at me.

I jab my pointer finger in his chest. Shit. He’s rock-hard, and though I’m referring to his pec muscle, the way I can’t help but remember the bulge he cupped behind his jeans when he offered to whip out his dick, and there’s no way he’s not currently that hard everywhere.

I shove that thought way down deep as I demand, “Where do you think you’re going?”

“To bed.”

Hang on—

“Which bed?”

“Our bed.”

“That bed in my room is my bed, Mr. Whiskers.”

“Vincent.”

Nope. If I give in on this, if I start calling this man ‘Vincent’, it’s accepting that the stray cat that once left a dead mouse on my pillow is also this gorgeous man in front of me—assuming there is any possible way this is really happening. For the sake of the ‘dead mouse on the pillow’ thing, I really fucking hope not. Either way… “Uh-uh. You’re not sleeping with me.”

The stubborn look he’s wearing tells me that that’s exactly what he plans on doing.

“No.”

“Why not, Kate? You let me sleep at the bottom of your bed every night.”

“I let my cat sleep there.”

His brown eyes flash green. “I can purr if it makes you feel better.”

It would not, but when I slam the door that cuts the apartment off from the stairwell right in his unsuspecting face?

That does—even if it’s just a little.

I didn’t lock the door.
