Soren leans against the wall, arms crossed, bored and not surprised by my anger at all. “Before you two go ripping each other’s clothes off, maybe come see our guest.”

My eyes land on Soren’s neck, my brows arching so high they might be touching my hairline.

He blushes, rubbing the spot Glenn marked. It isn’t uncommon for vampires to fuck, but marking their partner is special.

“You and Glenn mated?”

He clears his throat and nods. “It was an accident.”

Oh, shit.

That means they are bonded for one thousand years.

“I’m okay with it. Anyway, before the house reeks of you two again, come on.” He turns around and walks away, leaving me with another view of another bite on his neck.

Accident? Would Glenn bite him multiple times if it was an accident? I don’t think so, but whatever they have to tell themselves to feel better.

“Come on, Gorgeous.” I hold out my hand to Helios, and he takes it without question.

I spin him around, making a mental note to dance with him under the northern lights.

He laughs, twirling round and around until I snatch him around his waist. His stomach growling reminds me I haven’t fed my mate in a few days. I frown at myself. I should know better. He needs his strength. I know we’ve been busy, but that’s no excuse.

“Smells like someone cooked. Come on. Let me feed you.”

“Please,” Helios groans.

Just as I’m about to step into the kitchen, Lorcan’s voice has me jerk Helios against my chest.

“This is delicious. What is this called?” Lorcan asks around a mouthful of food.

“French toast,” Glenn explains, clearly agitated.

“I can hear you two breathing,” Lorcan singsongs. “You can’t ignore me forever.”

One could only hope.

I snort, giving away our location. “What are you doing here, Lorcan?” I step out with my mate, and the kitchen island catches my eye.

I stare at it unblinking, remembering him lying there, dying, bleeding.

“Hey.” Helios’s hands press against my chest. “I’m right here.”

“You two haven’t mated yet, by chance, have you?” Lorcan shovels the French toast in his mouth, the syrup dripping down his bones as he swallows. “I have an update for you.”

Both Helios and I slowly turn to Lorcan.

“Remember when we were all like, ‘Men can’t get pregnant.’ Well, funny thing about that is…you can.” He picks up a glass of orange juice to chase the breakfast, and I hear it splash against his ribcage before hitting the floor in a puddle. “Surprise.”

“What?” Helios sways on his feet, and I steady him with my hands on his shoulders.

“Yeah, it took some digging. I mean, I should have known better, but I found a couple, Ambrose and Ollie. They are adorable. You would get along with Ambrose, Alaska. He’s all ‘roar’ just like you. They have children.”

“They have children,” Helios repeats.

The color from his face drains. The usual golden cheeks that reflect the sun turn pale.

“Children? Like more than one?” Helios stumbles, catching himself on the kitchen island.
