I can’t stop or help myself. I crush our lips together again, my hands rubbing up and down his back before I tighten my arms around him.

“I’d love to marry you. I want you to be mine in all the ways, Helios.”

“Really?”

“Really. I’d give anything to belong to you in every world, Beloved.”

“Did you know that one of the longest marriages known lasted eighty-eight years?”

I’m not impressed. “Is that it?” I take his hand and bring his knuckles to my lips, kissing the elegant long digits.

“Eighty-eight years is a long time!” he scoffs.

“Not nearly long enough. Not when it comes to you. We’ll break that record. Over and over again. And still, it won’t be long enough. Every eternity, I’ll always want more. Forever won’t be long enough.”

He smiles, and his happiness is directed at me. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to being the reason for his happiness. It will always feel new to me.

Helios untangles the ends of my hair to let his fingers drift through. “Did you know that I’ve never been in love before? I thought I had,” he explains, becoming serious as he shakes his head. “But I hadn’t. Now I know that I’ve never loved anyone before, not like I love you.”

“I haven’t either. You’re the first for me in so many ways. My last too.” I drift my hands up his side, unable to get enough of his body, or the reality that he is actually mine.

He dips his chin. “Me too.”

“Give me a messy kiss, Honeybee.” I snag his chin between my fingers, pulling him towards me. “I like having your taste on my tongue after your lips have left mine.”

He gasps, desire strumming the strings of our bond.

Just as he leans down, those soft, pouty clouds brushing against mine, a knock on the fucking door interrupts us.

I growl. It’s low and throaty, a darkness bouncing off the walls.

“What?” I bite, my fangs at the ready and my hands drifting down to my mate’s round, muscular ass.

“We have company.” Soren’s voice is muffled from the other side of the door.

I sigh, clutching Helios’s waist in frustration that our time locked away together is over. “We’ll be out in a minute.”

When I hear the bedroom door shut and his footsteps retreating further down the hall, I lift us out of the tub, have us dried, and changed in a matter of seconds until we are standing in the middle of the bedroom.

Helios places his hands on his hips, his wet hair curling more as it dries. “You have to warn me when you do that. It makes me a little dizzy.” He grabs the side of his head, giving it a small, slight shake.

“I’m sorry. If someone is here, if it’s a hunter, I have to be quick. I can’t leave us vulnerable.” I kiss his forehead, still smelling the scent of his heat clinging to the air since the sheets we ruined are on the floor.

I want to roll myself in those sheets to have his scent on me.

“Do you think it’s the hunter?”

“No. Soren would have sounded more urgent.” I step back with a grip on his hand to get a good look at him. “You look so fucking good in my clothes. How am I supposed to focus on anything else when you’re walking around like that?”

My shirt swallows him. The sweatpants barely hang onto his hips. He is swimming in my clothes, and a wave of possession washes over me.

“Like what? Like my mate is fucking unreasonably gigantic?” He plucks at the shirt and grumbles under his breath, “Everywhere.”

I stretch an arm out and fist the shirt, tugging him forward. “I didn’t hear you complaining last night when I fucked you right here on the floor. In fact,” I step closer to him, the air we breathe suddenly thicker with arousal. “I remember you begging me to fuck you harder.” I point to the spot by the door, dozens of scratches from my claws forever engraved in the wood.

Another knock on the bedroom door interrupts us, and my eyes shift, annoyed and frustrated. I just want some time with my damn mate! Spinning around, I swing the door open and snarl.

“What?”
