“So I apologized for thinking he couldn’t find my clit and make me come more than once, thanked him profusely, kissed him, got up and got dressed, snuck downstairs, ducked behind the couch when I heard Brewser come out of his bedroom, waiting until he finished in the bathroom and went back to bed, and then slipped out the door and went home.”
Nora and Astrid are staring at me.
Then they look at one another and start laughing.
“You just got up and left?” Astrid asks.
“You thought Lawson couldn’t find your clit?” Nora asks. “Really?”
I look at Astrid. “I had to go home! I couldn’t spend the night. Beckett would’ve freaked out. Brewser probably would’ve freaked out.”
“Brewser would’ve been thrilled,” Nora says.
Okay, she’s right about that one. I think Brewser has been playing a bit of a matchmaker this whole time. He probably would’ve high-fived both of us and called all of his friends.
“I can’t spend the night with Lawson,” I say with a sigh. “He understood, by the way. He was really sweet and said he couldn’t wait to do it again.” I flush from scalp to toes thinking about that and how he kissed me goodbye. “But he understood I had to leave. He also hated that I was leaving alone, but he couldn’t go with me!” Getting him to stay in bed had taken some convincing.
My friends both nod. This is all obvious to objective-ish third parties.
“But back to the clit part,” Nora says.
“That is completely Andi and Everly’s fault,” I say.
“Have I been summoned?” Andi asks as she breezes into the office.
I immediately forget whatever she just asked us. She is carrying an enormous bouquet of flowers. They are peach and cream roses in a sage green vase.
They look like they were arranged specifically to sit in my living room.
She is also balancing a drink tray in the other hand. She brought milkshakes.
“What is this?” Astrid asks, dropping her feet from where they are resting on the edge of my desk and sitting up straight. She reaches out to take the drink holder as Andi sets the enormous bouquet of flowers right in the center of my desk.
“These are for Sutton.” Andi props a hip on the edge of my desk and looks at me knowingly. “I assume you’ve all already heard what she did to deserve them, but I’m going to need her to start over from the beginning.”
“She is disparaging you in the story,” Astrid warns.
Andi looks at me with wide eyes. “Excuse me?”
I’m staring at the roses. They are gorgeous and smell amazing and I know exactly who they’re from and my heart has that filled-with-helium feeling again.
“You led me to believe that most men aren’t that good at sex and I might need to help him a little,” I tell her.
“Oh my God,” she says.
I look up at her.
She’s grinning. “What did you say or do to Lawson?”
“I just promised him that I would be happy to coach him through finding my clit and giving me an orgasm and not to worry about giving me multiples.”
She nods, still grinning. “And how did he respond?”
“He was happy to take the coaching.”
“Uh huh. And then?”
“He proceeded to blow my mind, all on his own, and I ended up apologizing.”
