He doesn’t need to know those thoughts very much continue today.

“Not to mention the fact that I folded his underwear,” I say.

“Excuse me?” Andi asks.

“Listen, I was there with the food and I noticed that there were some dishes in the sink so I washed them.”

She makes a motion that says go on.

“Then I noticed some crumbs on the floor, so I swept. Then I decided to just make a quick pass through the house and see if I could do anything else.” I glance at Brewser. “I was trying to be helpful.”

“And it was. You are,” Brewser assures me.

I blow out a breath. “Anyway, it was kind of a domino effect. One thing led to another, and pretty soon I saw a basket of laundry on top of the dryer, clearly clean, so I folded it. I was going over some plans for book club in my mind, and I didn’t even realize it was underwear until I was partway through. Then I thought maybe it was Brewser’s.”

Brewser laughs. “I don’t wear superhero underwear.”

Andi’s eyes widen with her smile. “Lawson wears superhero underwear?”

I can’t help but grin. “Apparently.”

“How did you find out it was his?”

“He was in here eating with the team and talking about it,” I say, torn between laughing and renewed embarrassment. “It took everything in me to keep from reacting and giving myself away.”

“And he was upset?” Andi asks.

“No, not really,” Brewser says. “He maybe thought it was a little bit weird. But he wasn’t angry or anything. He just feels like it’s a little odd to have someone coming into the house and being in his stuff.”

“Which is why I couldn’t go upstairs and put the thong in his bedroom,” I say, covering my face.

“What did that note say?” Andi asks. She nudges me again. “You left a note with the thong, right? Tell me what it said.”

I shake my head, still covering my face.

“It said, ‘Now you can touch mine, too’,” Brewser says.

They both laugh, and I moan.

“I can see why he says that it’s endearing and kind of cute,” Andi says.

I drop my hand and ask, “And do you see why I say that he absolutely cannot find out that it’s me?”

Andi nods and shares a look with Brewser. He also nods, and they say together, “Yeah, we get it.”

I sigh.

Well, at least we’re all on the same page about Lawson never ever, ever finding out that I am his accidental stalker.

CHAPTER 4

LAWSON

“I’m getting a doorbell camera, if that’s okay with you,” I tell Brewser as I come into the kitchen the next morning.

“I don’t have a doorbell,” he says around a bite of… something.

I focus on the plate in front of him. “Cinnamon rolls?”
