“Thank you for putting up with me,” he says, hugging her back.
Holy shit. Their dynamic is so different from mine and Lydia's. It is going to take some adjusting to. But as long as this is the end result, it will be okay.
When she finally lets him go, I extend my hand for a handshake. “Thanks, man,” I say.
When he takes my hand, he uses it to pull me into a bro hug. He thumps me on the back. “Thank you. For seeing how amazing my sister is. Even past all my bullshit.”
I step back and smile. “It’s impossible not to see,” I tell him. I wait a second, then ask, “You’re not going to give me the typical disclaimer about killing me if I hurt her?”
He shakes his head. “No need.”
I nod and swallow hard. “You’re right.”
“Uh, hey.”
We all turn to find Andi walking toward us.
“Hey,” Sutton greets her.
They hug.
“Everything okay?” Andi asks softly.
“Really good,” Sutton tells her.
Andi pulls back and smiles. “I’m so glad.”
“How about you? And everything inside?”
“Yep. Everything seems great. Everybody is getting ready to go home.” She looks over at Beckett. “I was wondering if I could get a ride, actually.”
Beckett straightens. “With me?”
She shrugs. “Yeah. I figured Sutton would be going with Lawson.” She steps toward Beckett. “Right? That makes sense?”
He nods. “Yep. That makes sense.”
She smiles at him. “So, I thought you’d have room for me. I came up with Nora and those guys but, there are so many people, it’s silly for anyone to have to drive back by themselves.”
Beckett is staring at her.
And clearly falling a little more in love with her.
I like her very much.
Beckett should probably not make the drive back to Rebel alone. I would have happily let Sutton drive back with him, but this…is so much better.
“Of course you can ride back with me,” Beckett finally says.
“Great.” Andi pulls her purse up on her shoulder. She smiles at Sutton and me. “See you guys later.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.”
Beckett starts toward his truck with Andi, almost in a daze.
Which might have also been part of her plan.
