Despite the fact that it’s late, I’m dying to read the notes he wrote me in the journal. I settle into bed after washing my face and throwing on an oversized, comfy T-shirt, and open the journal.
Mel,
I thought I’d start this journal off by telling you three of my favorite things about you.
1.You love following schedules, which makes you very reliable. This quality is surprisingly hot.
2.You always make sure everything is tidy and organized. No picture frames will ever be crooked on your watch.
3.You smell like essential oils. So every time I’m near you, it’s like I’m at a spa.
P.S. I love Wesanie for a couple name.
-West
I giggle at the last part then close the journal and hug it to my chest. I sigh, feeling so happy and content. I never knew how much I needed someone to love the quirks about me.
The very things I dislike about myself the most. But West knows my struggles and loves me anyway.
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
WEST
Two days later, I’m pacing around my living room, waiting for Harrison and Melanie to arrive. Harrison’s flight got in an hour ago and Mel is picking him up then heading over here for a pizza and movie night. I just saw her last night, and I still spent the entire day missing her.
The thought of the three of us hanging out together again has put a grin on my face all day. Hopefully I can sneak in some more kisses without Harrison noticing. Not sure I can resist Melanie’s sweet lips now that I’ve had a taste of them. I guess Harrison will just have to deal with it.
Finally, the doorbell rings and I practically run to answer it. Harrison comes right inside, wheeling his suitcase behind him.
He pulls me into a hug and we slap each other on the back. “Good to see you, man,” he tells me.
I pull away and smile. “You too. It’s been too long.”
Melanie closes the door behind her, looking shy. This thing between us has been years in the making, but it also feels so new. I’m sure this is strange for her, especially with her brother around.
I, on the other hand, am not shy or embarrassed at all. I loop my hands around her waist and she gasps when I pick her up so her feet are off the ground. “I missed you today.” I nuzzle my nose in the crook of her neck, inhaling the sweet scent of her soft skin.
She giggles and I plant a kiss right on her pretty, pink lips. Her sweetness is addicting. She’s blushing so hard, and I’ll probably keep embarrassing her just to keep that blush there.
Harrison clears his throat and we turn our heads to look at him. “It’s definitely going to take me a minute to get used to this.” He runs a hand through his dark hair then looks down at his feet.
I set Melanie back on the ground, but grab her hand. Turning my attention back to Harrison, I say, “Come upstairs and check out your guest suite.”
Grinning, I lead them toward the stairs. Harrison is eyeing our joined hands with an odd expression. We walk up the stairs and down the short hallway to one of the bedrooms and I open the door. I had furniture delivered and set up while I was traveling.
Harrison steps inside the room and bursts out laughing, his deep chuckle filling the room. “Really?” he asks, still laughing.
The queen size bed is donned with red D.C. Eagles bedding and pillows. Above the bed hangs two criss-crossed hockey sticks, and above the nightstands are my framed jerseys: one from the Washington Eagles, and another from the Quebec Wolverines. I also hung several posters of myself around the room just to annoy him.
Melanie laughs. “Wow. West, your inner designer really came out in here.”
With a smirk, I nod in agreement. “Yeah, I’m thinking of retiring early from hockey and going into interior design.”
Harrison rolls his eyes, but one side of his mouth is quirked in a smile.
“Could you do my place next? I could use some of these posters.” Melanie looks up at me and bats her eyelashes. “Especially if you have one from your shirtless zamboni photo shoot.”
I wink at her. “You can have all the posters you want. I even have a life-sized cardboard cutout of myself that would brighten up your living room.”
