A Society of Traitors

A scent of jasmine and cinnamon wafted toward me, mixed with something natural that could only be her body scent.

“That nickname is getting old, Miles,” Emely pressed out.

I walked with her toward the courtroom.

“Would you prefer Midnight?” I whispered close to her.

Emely stopped abruptly and spun around.

“Miles!” She looked around hastily before glaring at me in confusion. “What's your problem?”

“I don't have many at the moment,” I replied, folding my hands behind my back. “Maybe you'd like to share yours with me.” Then I leaned toward her. “Trust me.” I lowered my voice. “I'm good at relieving stress.”

Emely's serious expression slipped away and a blush filled her cheeks. A pretty rosy color that drove all the blood to the lower part of my body.

Oh fuck, if I ever got her all to myself...

“You should see your face,” I chuckled softly and straightened up again before walking on and stopping in front of the double doors to the courtroom.

“I can't believe it,” I heard Emely say before she turned to me, hesitated briefly, and finally started moving.

Triumphant inside, I opened the door with a smile and gestured toward the courtroom.

“Ladies first.”

Emely glared at me angrily with those pretty brown eyes, and that was the moment I knew I would never get bored with her. She was so wonderfully easy to provoke. I was going to have so much fun with her.

Emely rushed past me into the hall.

I was about to follow her when the door slammed shut in my face.

I stared at the fine wood in front of me. Then I pressed my lips together.

Oh, little wolf. You shouldn't have done that.

With a dry laugh, I opened the door and entered the quiet hall before slowly closing it behind me, shaking my head.

My gaze fell on Emely, who had already sat down at one of the tables, far away from Vivienna.

Camille and Mrs. Hudgington were busy going through two files.

But my focus was on my rival, whose breath seemed to catch in her throat the second our eyes met.

I didn't smile like I usually did, no, I stared, menacingly, as I'd never done before. A game I should have played sooner, because her reaction was priceless.

It was as if she was holding her breath. And with every step I took across the hall toward her, while the two women talked and only Vivienna stared at us, I could feel her nervousness growing through my Legacy gift.

What was she thinking? That she could just slam the door in my face like that?

Oh, how I would love to punish her. Just enough to make her crave more. Whatever that might look like… The possibilities were endless...

If it weren't for these damn treaties, I would have fucked that damn attitude out of you by now, little wolf.

My erection started to ache desperately, but I kept walking, not taking my eyes off her for a second, enjoying the intensity of her nervousness, mingled with my euphoria.
