This Olivia reminded me of Vivienna. Someone with too much self-confidence and without respect. Added to that was the recklessness of believing she was superior.
“Whatever brought you to this town, I advise you to get out of here. Transformed are child’s play for my friend.”
For a moment, Olivia seemed to take me seriously, but then she suddenly jumped up.
Miles immediately pulled her back into her seat.
“There are rules here,” he whispered.
Olivia looked at him with blood-red fire blazing in her eyes.
A bitter laugh escaped my throat. “As if you care about the rules.” Miles looked at me, and so did Olivia. “I'm sure you didn't care about the rules during the test either, and you cheated.”
My gaze fixed on him, challenging.
It was just a guess, because why would someone like him be better than me? He probably didn't even study because this was all a joke in his endless existence.
Olivia laughed dryly. Her uncontrolled anger seemed gone. As if nothing had ever happened.
“You're misunderstanding something, sweetheart.” I saw her cross her legs under the bench and pick up her black pen to point it at me. “You got ninety-eight points because you couldn't do any better.” A condescending smile played around her lips. “He got 100 points because there was nothing more to achieve.”
I felt a twinge in my chest. My pride was crushed for the second time when I realized that her words were not only an insult, but also contained a shred of truth.
No one could get full marks from Mrs. Hudgington by cheating.
Miles was better than me. And I didn't hate him for it, I hated myself.
“So don't think you're better than him, because you're not.”
My gaze was fixed on her snooty smile.
“Take that from a Harvard student.”
My jaw was about to drop, but I had myself under control.
While I had fallen silent on the outside, a storm was raging inside my chest.
Hurt, I turned my head toward Miles because I couldn't stand her gaze.
He wasn't looking at his pretty sidekick who had just torn me apart, but at me, pity filling his eyes.
That was the last straw.
I couldn't take it anymore, turned around, gathered my things, and wanted to get out of here as quickly as possible.
This Olivia had humiliated me, in front of him. God, how stupid I had been to turn around in the first place. I had expected Miles to counterattack, but not this conceited Ruisangor bitch.
Miles was better than me. And it pissed me off. So fucking much!
Last Night Stand

The day had been a rollercoaster ride, and I didn't know why my troubled heart had drawn me here.
When I had left the lecture hall, there had been that familiar metallic feeling in my trouser pocket, and I had pulled Alarik's keys out of it.
My uncle had lectures, seminars, and classes all day, which was why I had allowed myself to think about it in the first place.
