He recoiled and widened his yellow eyes.
“Kieran!” he yelled. Unfortunately, the terror in his eyes didn't really satisfy me. “Don't forget whose house you're in!”
He stepped back, shaking his head with panic in his eyes, snorting in disbelief as if I were obliged to obey him, and finally stepped past me to disappear down the hallway toward the main entrance of the estate.
I stared at the shards in front of me.
My father had never been able to deal with my anger, always disappearing when I had thrown a tantrum.
Even more anger, even more despair spread through me.
She was dead. I couldn't bring her back. All I could do was make sure that the last memories of this woman were honored. Even if that meant slitting my father's throat at some point.
He didn't have to admit to me that he had done it. I knew he wasn't her killer, that he would be too cowardly to ram a knife into someone's throat. I just hoped for his sake that he knew I didn't know the meaning of the word cowardice.
Rohan Wheeler knew only too well what I was talking about. He had driven her to flee from downtown and hide in the forest of our enemies in one of the abandoned mansions.
That dirty bastard.
The cramp in my hands didn't let up. On the contrary, it only got worse when Mikhail Rolanow entered the hallway.
Enough was enough.
If I didn't get out of here right now, I would go ballistic, and I couldn't promise that any vases here would remain intact.
I rushed past Mikhail, to get around him, hoping my father had already disappeared from the circular driveway, but the jerk grabbed my arm and I was forced to stop.
If he hadn't let go of me at that moment, I would have dug my claws into his flesh.
His eyes began to glow and the arrogant smile disappeared.
“Don't make me your enemy,” he growled. “Believe me. You don't want that.” I felt my eyes begin to glow as well. “Keep in mind that we have one and the same common enemy hiding in the woods of this island.”
His expression darkened.
Did this bastard really think he could threaten me and then hope for an alliance?
“Go to hell!”
Gritting my teeth, I resisted the urge to spit on his polished luxury shoes.
And without any further hesitation, I rushed through the hallway, opened the front door, and slammed it shut behind me.
My gaze immediately fell on my motorcycle, which was parked in the driveway. Metal blades were stuck deep in the fairing.
My knuckles cracked as my fists clenched tighter and tighter. Dark veins were already visible on my hands.
That DeLoughrey bastard had gone too far, and we definitely hadn't settled the score yet.
I ran down the stone steps of the property and immediately forgot all the unpleasant conversations I'd just had.
It made me sick to see what that Ruisangor had done.
Of course, I'd be able to fix this. I had enough money to replace the entire machine.
And suddenly, I got an idea.
