“Calm down!” she exclaimed.
Around us, students pulled out their phones.
“He ruined my motorcycle!”
Miles smirked mockingly behind Emely, and I hadn't felt the urge to snap someone's neck in a long time, even if it would probably be like a trivial wound to him.
I wanted to scratch his fucking eyes out and impale them on his blades.
“Get out of the way, Emely!” I growled, trying to break free. “Let go of me!”
I was pulled back completely.
“Kieran!” Nash appeared in front of me. “Calm down. We’ll take care of it.”
What did he want to do differently than me?!
I saw Noah step past him and walk toward Miles, but Emely also moved in front of him.
I glared at Miles, hoping my look would send him the message that this wasn't over yet, but Larissa had already pulled him away, out of my sight.
Miles had picked the wrong guy. He was going to bleed. And so was that girl.

“What the hell was that in the parking lot, damn it?!” I hissed when I finally caught up with Miles.
He sat down in one of the elegant tip-up chairs in the huge lecture hall next to Adrian, who, in his all-black suit and with a grim expression on his face, once again looked as if he felt the need to strangle someone.
“I was just playing with the Copelands' new dog,” Miles replied with a smug expression on his face, pushing down the wooden seat next to him.
“You ruined his motorcycle!” I blurted out in disbelief and sat down.
I didn't miss the way he raised his eyebrows.
“What?” I muttered irritably. “Don't look at me like that! You just don't do things like that!”
I could understand why this Kieran Wheeler guy had hit the roof. If someone had disgraced my luxury motorcycle like that, I would have made sure that person never dared come near me again.
“Have you seen my car?” he laughed, as if he had completely gotten over it, but I knew that damn sports car was just as important to him as my motorcycle was to me. “He's lucky I didn't throw the knives at him.”
A loud laugh came from the large double doors of the lecture hall, and I turned around to see Cody Kaheel holding his hand over his mouth – which was twisted into a grimace of strained amusement – while patting Hunter on the shoulder.
As so often, my gaze lingered on the many colorful iron-on patches, enamel pins and pin-back buttons on the denim jacket over his Vanderwood hoodie.
“What's wrong with you?” Noah grumbled, punching Cody so hard in the shoulder that he stumbled down a step and crashed into Hunter, who barely managed to catch him and finally gave him a punishing look.
Cody stared up at Hunter, and for a second, I thought I saw familiarity in his gaze. But Hunter pulled Cody up and pushed him away again, whereupon Cody burst out laughing once more.
Then Emely and Nash appeared next to the two of them, followed by the other Senseque.
As they passed us on the staircase, their lightheartedness vanished and all of them, except Emely, gave us hostile glances.
