“The reason I’m here is because Arthur, my fated mate, shifted to his hedgehog form during class and he yelled at him to control himself. Arthur looked terrified once he’d shifted back and Niels continued to yell at him.”

“I will talk to Niels,” Wren said, clearing his throat. “You’re dismissed for now as I do a thorough investigation on this.”

A gave him a single nod, not knowing if this would end well for me or not. Then I left his office, following my light back to my room.

Arthur was to my huge and obvious surprise, pacing the floor, looking incensed.

“Finally!” he muttered, standing with his hands on his hips. My gaze trailed over his body, seeing him standing for the very first time. Gods, he was cute. “Stop that!” he snapped, making me scowl.

“Oh right, you want nothing to do with me. I apologize for looking at you.” I made my way to the bathroom, needing to escape him before I started crying again.

He grabbed my sleeve, pulling me back towards the middle of the room. “You had no right to interfere!” he gritted.

Blinking, I just stood there. “You’re mad that I stood up for you?!”

“Yes!” He threw his hands up. “You only made it worse!”

“I made it worse?!”

“Yes! If you’d just let him go off, then you wouldn’t be banished from his classes!”

“That’s what you’re worried about?! I don’t give a shit what happens to me!”

“But I do!” he snapped.

“Could’ve fooled me!”

He stopped, looking like I’d slapped him.

“What?” he asked, almost a whisper.

“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe the fact that you shifted so we wouldn’t bond? Or that you continue to avoid me, sleeping under the bed and only returning to our room after I’ve gone to bed?”

He seemed defeated as he admitted, “That doesn’t mean that I don’t care, Nazuss.”

“It sort of does, Arthur,” I disagreed. “I told you no one was going to touch us. I guess you just decided I wasn’t good enough or something, but gods, you could’ve told me! Instead of just letting me fester in my hurt day after day. Do you realize how fucking selfish you are?”

He was crying now. “I did that to protect you!”

“I don’t need your protection!” I roared, needing him to understand. “All I fucking need is your heart, Arthur!”

“You already have that, you idiot!”

There was no time to respond as Arthur grabbed my neck and pulled me down, his lips crashing against mine. It was a wet kiss, his tears still falling and I found myself tearing up as well, the emotional argument had broken something inside of me and now everything just came pouring out.

“Don’t you dare run away again,” I rasped against his lips, holding him close.

“I can’t,” he whispered, but before fear could rise, I felt the infamous tug in my chest. I slammed my lips back to his, not taking any more risks. He was mine now.

He melted into the kiss, holding onto my neck and stroking my nape with his thumbs. I held his waist, not daring to create any space between us as our bond snapped into place.

Chapter Nine

Arthur broke the kiss first, panting against my lips, his eyes searching mine. “You better not regret this, Nazuss.”

Grinning widely, I brushed my thumb across his bottom lip. “Darling, I will never regret choosing you.”

Then I reclaimed his lips, deepening the kiss and stroking his tongue with my own. My hands cupped his nape and ass as I grinded my hard length against his, our pants robbing us of the slick slide.
