CHAPTER SIXTEEN
JED
As Jed started down the mountain, he realized he wasn’t sure what he was doing, driving off by himself to pick up Remy’s little sister. He just knew that he hadn’t been ready to talk to Remy yet.
He didn’t find himself wanting very often, but he could acknowledge to himself that he wanted Remy like nothing else. He didn’t stand a chance—not with the way Remy opened up to him and teased him and forgave him and sought him out like he was the person Remy wanted to be around the most.
And after the way Remy’d thrown himself into their kiss, he knew that Remy would be just as open and eager to please in bed, unable to hide his pleasure and desire for Jed’s touch.
Fuck. Now Jed was uncomfortably aroused, which was the last thing he wanted to be around Remy’s little sister. Time for one of his political podcasts. For once, he wasn’t going to mind that the news was so depressing. He needed to cool way, way down.
By the time he reached the airport, he was back in command of himself. Lily had already sent a selfie to the group chat that Remy had started to show where she was waiting, but Jed thought he might have picked her out of the crowd anyway. She had the same dark brown curls and wide smile as her brother, even if she was about half his size.
“Lily?” he asked, rolling down the window as he pulled up.
“That’s me,” she responded cheerfully.
“Great.” Jed parked, got out, and opened the trunk as Lily wheeled her bags over. “I’m Jed Grant. Nice to meet you. Remy talks about you all the time.”
“Same.” Lily had Remy’s caramel-brown eyes, too. “Thanks so much for picking me up. I can’t believe you got my stubborn big brother to stay home and rest.”
